DIY with Quantum Boards

If I want to limit the output of a B series driver to lets say 70%, I should be able to get a 60k potentiometer (plus a 10k inline to limit the low end) correct?

Robin and Stephen, are we looking at about two weeks on shipment for the kits? Just looking for a rough idea so I can plan accordingly. Thanks!

I posted my tent shot earlier, those are 3000k QB 304 and I'm VERY pleased with the rsults so far! We'll see at harvest time but I can say these veg just fine! I think it was mentioned that the QB 3000k are closer in spectrum to a 3500k in other lights

I would get the 3500K for both uses if I could only have one light. That being said if there was only 3K available I would have no issue using it. I am running one in my flower tent right now and not getting as much stretch as I expected and good inter nodal spacing. I just ordered a 260w kit in 4K to test in veg

@Budzbuddha : Very nice... how many what's and what distance do you recommend for seedlings?
Right now she is elevated but still at around 22" ... I look at the plants response, if leaves are at least lateral or praying i leave it. Power i usually start around 50-60% .

You have to be descreet with these panels ... They WILL BLEACH.
Light Stress is a real problem with plants sometimes. The Quantums have a far better light spread than say a light with a hot spot center. I have noticed ( some may chime in ) that the plants seem to stay together in height ( strain dependant) . Stretch seems better controlled ... Plant transpiration is something to keep an eye on ( as panels really don't radiate a lot of heat ) but if you constantly drive hard that might be an issue.
I think the growers running into heat issues with there grows are having more of an environmental problem ( grow area ) than with the quantums themselves.

There are growers using Quantums with NO HEATSINK. Even with the Slate 1 heat sinks , one could grap a clip fan , mount it on a support post ( tent ) and blow over panels to keep rigs cool. It is really incredible how easy these things are to use and build with.

Gone are the days of grabbing CoolMaster CPU heat sinks or shit like that for cooling .

Back to the seedlings ... I say start around 22-24" at a moderate power setting , if she is getting a bit stretchy , raise her or lower lamp a bit or bump power a little.

Have to mention this ..... ( sorry it's wrong forum )

The Quantum Gods have smiled on us ... That lone seedbank we missed ... Has returned.
I mention this only because I plan to run these Quantums with some new blood.

There are standard bales of potentiometer resistance. They are also usually +/-20% tolerance.
Ideally a 50k ohm potentiometer with 22K ohm resistor

You might want to try predator mites too. I tried neem before and the only way I really killed them off was Predators. It was cool watching them eat the pest spider mites and the eggs with my scope. Good luck and if you have a dog or cat that goes outside keep them far away from your grow.
Yes , I use them too.
2000 of them phytosellius + 10 sachets of amblyseius .
Great job!

How does a Quantum board compare to a COB LED setup? Cost seems somewhat similar to me, but I haven't done much Quantum board research yet.

I use neem oil first wait 36 hours then hit them with Captain Jack's Dead Bug ( Bonine ). Wait 2 days and another neem oil bath. The day before harvest I'll take down my lights and clean them, them I'll go in the tent with a garden hose and wash them down, and put fans on them. Plants are then clean of neem and soap residue.

In the greenhouse I had them once. All it took was spraying the plants down with the garden hose and washing everything on the ground inside, out of the greenhouse. Never saw another in there.

For me it came down to head room, cobs are more concentrated and need more distance above the canopy for spread (or lots more cobs dimmed down).
Thank you for the information.

Do they provide similar efficiency and electrical savings? Are the yields and bud quality similar also?

I have not finished a grow with them my self so I can't say. However I can say that my vegging plants love them and the science is sound.

Pulling around 500-600 watts 4 boards will produce about the same or more plant growing energy as a 1000w SE bulb over the same area. I don't think anyone has posted any outstanding numbers off of them yet but they are new and there have been very few completed grows with them.

2 more months and I'll have my first finished plant on QB's, she's still vegging under 200w of burple right now as I ran out of room in my solo QB tent (more QB's on the way to remedy this).

I am hoping for about 16z from it in a 3'x3' single plant scrog pulling about 270w-320w from 4 boards (1.4 - 1.65g/w). My last 3'x3' scrog was a blueberry under 500w of burple and came out to be 10z and finished 17" tall. About .56g/w so nothing special there but it was a low yielder and I should have vegged it another week.

Quality wise I am there, I am just trying to dial in the efficiency and I'm hoping with these boards and a more stable environment I can get there. I think a 16z plant is very doable in a 3'x3' with these.

EDIT: I take that back about outstanding numbers, I believe someone here does vertical scrogs and pulls some impressive numbers and I believe they have a QB vertical scrog too.

Been looking for a light setup for a 2x2 but haven't pulled the trigger just yet. The 135w kit looks like it would be perfect for a small space. Anyone complete any micro 2x2 with a single 135w kit yet? Would I expect to see a very good light spread in the entire 2x2 space. These are intriguing since I can see doing very successful lst or scrog with a very even spread.

Only question though is since I'm limited in vertical space are there ways to shorten the included hangers or other hanging options to reduce any wasted vertical space. Basically I'd like to mount it as close as possible to the top of the cab to maximize my vertical space. I understand some headspace is required for air movement. I love the idea of passive cooling as the only noise will be my exhaust fan which means I can stay stealthy.

What's the max height of your 2x2?
Lots of options to get the qb close to ceiling.
DIY your own hangers with wire for instance.
As you can see the hanging wires have a bit of length but if I was to make the driver remote could really tighten up the wires.

Max height of my cab is 4ft so the least space I take up with the light the most I can squeeze out for grow space. I've done ok with flowering plants when they are 12-14 inches before stretch. I've been able to let them get bigger before flipping with a low stretch strain like pre98 bubba
