Curing question

Been in the game 15 years plus, always trying to improve. I’ve cured some lovely buds before and I’ve nailed down the drying so that my buds go into jars stinking. When I’ve dried my buds roughly takes 10 days ( whole plant hang) there nice an crispy, sticky and stinkingggg, I’ve jarred them at this stage and not opened the jars for 2-3 weeks( no mold), I guess what I’m trying to say is, is that although there is no risk of mold, I am better to replenish the air within the jars? Every week or so? Or allow the aerobic bacteria to continually feed on the break down of the sugars and keep jars closed? As I say there is no risk of mold as buds are dry. You read everywhere to burp but as no risk of mold what are the benefits ?

Appreciate your reply. I’m just trying to get my head around that if my buds are dry after the 10 days hanging then into jars, what are the benefits of burping if there is no risk of mold ?

I find if I take a good bud and grind up a few days worth or more of weed. The next day or even later in the afternoon I can taste the flavours more pronounced than smoking just from the jar.

Try it

As far as my research across the interent has given me, yes, the aerobic bacteria that aid the curing process benefit from fresh air and you should burp atleast once a week for the first month
So why not burp after the first month ? If they benefited for the first month, why not after ?

Because the buds are cured at that point.
Not much more to gain, same reason why I will not used bovada packs untill after that first month. They seem to do something funny to the process
You say not much more to gain, but the experts in the field state curing up to a year can produce the crem de la crem.

I’ve read this over and over ( original post) and it states to put the bud in slightly before the stems snap, in my years of experience this always results in a longer cure, and not always the best results.

I mean, yeah, It can get better.
I'm not sure your point, I say you should burp for the first month atleast, because that's the most essential cure. And the standard for the general market.
If you want a better cure, feel free to burp once a month after the first month and store for a year.... as long as you don't over dry.
I'm not planning on doing that, so no worries.

I think with the super long curing a good way to look at it is that curing for a month will get you to 85-90%. Then you could stretch out the cure another month to bump up to 90-95% and so on, but the difference will be so small it’s almost irrelevant.

Trim plant while still in container. Hang whole plant or large section of plant in a room approx. 65-70F and 40-60RH until most stems snap. Approx. 7-10 days. Cut buds from stems and place in large container with re-sealable lid. Open the container every 24hrs for 30mins for the first week, 15mins a day for the second week. Enjoy your smoke.

What happens if you just trim the whole plant then stop watering it??

Wouldn’t that super slow dry it? Or would it start cannibalizing the buds or something.

Always stop watering at least 3 days prior to removing from the flower room. Let sit for 2-3 days of darkness then proceed to start trimming.
I have not witnessed the plant eating itself. That sounds pretty intense. Enjoy your smoke.
