Where do you get those numbers? How many were suicide? How many were accidental? If used in a murder, who were the victims and perps? How many were cops shooting people?

I'm all for gang bangers shooting each other. Good riddance. When mass murderers go into movie theaters, restaurants, businesses, etc., there aren;t any people with guns to fight back because so many people like you try to make good people who want to protect themselves (and others) feel like a loon. It's people like you that make me NOT want to help someone in need because they are probably anti gun, otherwise they would have one to defend themselves. I bet if you ever found yourself being attacked and feared for your life, you would be wishing someone would save you.

We should all just stay in our homes and have everything delivered? Learn some close quarter hand to hand self defense, have a gun in case shit escalates to that level, and enjoy your life knowing you have a good chance of defending yourself and loved ones from the people who will never change. I grew up in the shittiest parts of town with human animals. Seems those most opposed to guns have lived pretty charmed lives far removed from the violent element so it just seems so foreign and improbable. Easy to judge from your ivory tower.

A masked man burst into a 7-Eleven near Seattle early Sunday morning, swinging a hatchet and slicing the store clerk.

“He [was] killing me,” Singh, 58, said of the hatchet-wielding attacker. Singh added that the customer was a “nice guy.”

West said that the incident will be investigated fully but that the 60-year-old customer was currently being considered a Good Samaritan.

The “customer, the shooter, is shaken up but from everything that we see right now from the scene – there’s no wrongdoing on his part,” she told King 5. “In fact, he probably saved a life in this case.”

The average person who owns a gun is less safe to himself and his loved ones than if he didn't own a gun. The number of times a "good guy with a gun" uses it to defend is a fraction of the times the gun kills or injures a loved one by criminal intent by the owner or by an accident within the family. You might as well be reporting on the winner of a state lottery, its that unlikely.

I get that. There are A LOT of idiots out there who have no idea how to care for a gun, but they shouldn;t blow it for those of us who do. That's all I'm saying. People drink and drive, text and drive and read and drive, and put on make up and drive, eat, fuck,....etc They cause a lot of damage. DO we take away cars?

So, I've said this before and probably will again. I support the second amendment, which provides for "well regulated militia" and is the basis for today's gun ownership laws. I also don't own a gun because I'm not a fearful person and don't fear a home invasion, which is so unlikely that most lottery tickets have better odds. Also, safe gun ownership is a responsibility that I'm not interested in putting the effort into. If I liked target practice or hunting then I'd own one. That said, you have your right to own that gun, this I do recognize.

Arguments of cars and boats or recently snow mobiles (LOL) being dangerous are not relevant to fire arms because a fire arm for personal safety has only one use. That said, anything in the hands of a killer is dangerous and to be honest a car is a much more deadly weapon in that case. On the other hand, a car owner must demonstrate knowledge of traffic laws and can be stopped and cited if the car isn't maintained and operated in a safe manner. Not so for most gun owners.

Why aren't gun owners pressing other gun owners to be more safe with their weapons? @bearkat42 posted that article where a kid shot his mom and it would not have happened if the mother had followed commonly known gun safety procedures. The statistics of kids killed by accident in the home by their parents gun are one of the reasons why I don't own a gun. I don't understand why so many gun owners aren't aware that the risk/reward ratio is only tilted in their favor if they follow the guidelines put out by their very own lobbying organization.

I agree that people should have to have some type of safety class before being allowed to have a gun. I have ZERO problem with that. Cops have lots of training and they accidentally shoot people and themselves all the time. The average person is a MOron. So half are more dumb than that.
