HigH people. I'm a rookie to coco basically a rookie in general since I'm on my third ever grow. Right now I have 2 seeds that just popped thru overnight. Actually I had to help one since it appeared to be growing a little bent and sideways. Hopefully I didn't screw it up. Anyway I am growing a barneys farm LSD and a nirvana seeds blue mystic. I have canna coco and coco a and b cannazyme, hammerhead pk, atami bloombastic, and some MagiCal. Still need to get some canna rhizo asap. If your interested In my grow it's in my sig. I'm using a cabinet I built that is 5'Hx3'Wx2'D. I also have a 270 enhanced spectrum Supernova LED I'M using. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated by a rookie!! Thanks!

Switching to CoCo from Sunshine #4 it's a lot cheaper. I'll be using the nutrifield line coco bricks and their coco nutrient. This will simplify my nutrient system quite a bit. 55L of coco for $4.50 vs 50L of SS#4 for $40, no brainer in my book! I also like the superior resin production and clean taste of coco grown bud.

I transplanted today and noticed that the cocogro was dry because it was a half bag that was opened...so anyways i mixed it with some water and transplanted the seedlings...when i was watering i noticed alot of water in the saucer from the runoff...keep in mind that i have 2 3gallon plastic pots in each saucer i was wondering how high the run off water should be to know that i properly watered the coco? also whats a good rule of thumb for watering seedlings in 3 gallon plastic pots?

This is a very tricky question. When you say you're using 3 gallon containers I'm thinking you have a plant that deserves to be located in a 3 gallon container...

In this situation what I would do is water to complete saturation like you did, except I aim for more of a 1:1 run off ratio the first time I water (2 gallons in, 1 gallon out). This run off is removed, as is all run off.

The next watering probably would come for another week. I'd be watching the plant like a hawk after day 5 waiting for it to just start to wilt and lifting the container frequently to check the moisture level in the coco. Just as the coco hits that last moment of being moist, then I'd saturate it again with a low strength solution of nutrients at a 30% run off ratio. Allow as many days as I could and water again.

These two waterings should get you up to at least day 20 of life... and by that point the plant should have filled out enough that the third watering can be a decent feeding with at least 25% run off. The full sized plant and the balanced and well rinsed coco will then create a platform for you to push the plant another 3 weeks in Veg (at the least). 3 Gallons of coco should be used to grow some big ass plants. I'm talking 4 feet tall and up from there.

Ive taken some pics, first they show the problems with white widow x big bud and northern light blue.

Then shots of all of them with the headbands being the biggest on the right and the little new ones on the left. One shows the headband roots coming out of the air pots. One shows some wierd things growing in the nodes of the headbands. And finally a close up shot of one of the headbands.

Please have a look and tell me what you think

I ended up transfering again into little 8 oz dixie foam cups from the 3 gallon plastic pots...I did this so I also would be able to keep them in the clone dome for a bit until I transplant from the 8oz back into the 3 gallon or maybe 1/2 gallon...anyone have any advice on if I should go straight from 8oz to 3 gallons? or go smaller to 1 gallon or 1/2 gallon? also about how long should i let them Veg in the clone dome in the 8oz cups? whats a good rule of thumb to know when you need to transplant into a bigger container?

I am going to be stepping up from 16 ounce red party cups to 3 gallon smartpots that I'm only going to put 2 gallons in.

So, 16 ounces put into 2 gallon is about the same as 8 ounces into a 1 gallon. Transplanting to a three gallon makes sense from there. You can put a small plant into a larger planter but at that point you really need to know what you're doing when it comes to watering schedules. The risk for over watering, even in coco, is high when the root system isn't mature enough. Sometimes, it s a matter of just a few days from having a mature enough root system, or not and damaging them during transplant or over watering them directly afterwards.

As a loose, and highly aerated hydroponic, media coco can construct these massive webs of roots. A little bit goes a long way. I find that using less that 3 gallons of coco total you can feed/water more frequently and still grow huge and healthy plants. 2 gallons of coco indoors is a good amount for most average sized plants. You can always use more, to each their own, but you don't really have to if you can manage a regular feeding schedule once the roots fill the media and are consuming the moisture in a day.

Thanks a lot man. Im goin to do that right away. I do believe Im going to have to choose 4 to repot cause all I was given was four pots. Dont know the sex yet unless I put 2 in each pot till I find the males and cut the root ball out without "hopefully" destroying the other. Basically I have 8 really good bag seed plants in hopes I get 4 females.
Thanks for the advice much appreciated. I will keep you informed.
I wouldn't plant them together....Their roots start to intertwine early and you will def have some damage by pulling them apart....Get some more pots....Your local hydro store probably carries plastic gro bags.....You can use those instead of pots and they are like 10 cents a piece............Werd......Good luck

Just curious....Have you yielded bud from an L E D? How was it? Everyone I know likes HPS at least for the flowering part.... I don't think I have seen bud from straight L.E.D.s..........BTW .....I think you would really like BUD XL from H&G....It would be a great addition to your regimen......You also need a late bloom booster.....This will really help density and resin production........Peace

Just add some perlite and earthworm castings and you basically have the same thing as sunshine......Peace

I am on my third grow with my LED. Third grow ever for that matter. Anyway my previous two grows were autoflower grows. First grow was 2 Onyx and 1 EasyRyder autos that yielded me 5.2oz. Dried and cured. Second grow was 2 Onyx 2 EasyRyder and 1 Haze Auto that yielded me 5.9oz. Dried and cured. Just weighed that last grow up. As far as for how the budz turned out? I and friends who got to taste loved it. Nice bud density. Nice high. Nice everything. I even took a sample(qrtr.oz.) to my favorite dispensary and they were very impressed not only that it was my first grow but also that I used LED. I'm impressed with how my LED has performed so far! No supplemental lighting just the supernova seed to harvest! now I'm ready to see how it performs on regular strains. Which I'm currently three days after popping thru the coco. So its been three days since they popped thru and I was wondering what peoples opinions are on the light schedule for the seedling and vegetative stages are? I was planning on 24 hrs during the seedling stage then switch to 18/6 during vegetative. What about 24/0 till flowering? Anyone doing this? Should I have the light on 18/6 from seedling to flower? Just wondering what's the best way. I only have two autoflower grows of experience and I had my light on a 20/4 schedule for those. Thanks for any info and opinions on this! Any suggestions on a late bloombooster also?FYI those are Budz from my first grow in my avatar.

Problem is the Shultz is killing my plants and im sure my inexperience is too. heres some shots. I think its nute burn, nute lock or ph problems. i had CView attachment 1461013View attachment 1461014View attachment 1461015FL heat issues but now im using A MH light
Sorry took so long to reply, It's been a good weekend for me. Anyways, it doesn't look good for those little ones. I hope you've transplanted already and listened to Masonite420. I've transplanted from soil to coco, but my preference would be to start with what you want to finish in. A little planning helps. I have a feeling that you have multiple problems here. Swithching to coco and doing the whole coco program doesn't look like it will help unless there are some other changes.

What are you growing them in ? Is it a corrugated box ?
Is there proper ventilation and lots of air circulation in your grow chamber ?
Do you have a grow journal online to look at ?

I live in Hawaii and my main battle is with beating the heat, but you're still in veg stage and the heat can't be that bad right now in late winter. It took a couple grows for me to take air circulation seriously and when I did it totally changed everything. I'll be looking for more posts from you to see how things are going. I kinda have a bad feeling that you're over looking something else, and everything is compounding your problems. Make sure your environment is G...........

Have you fed any nutes yet?
Yes, I have been following this guide. But with tap water instead of ro water.

Ive given them half strength Rhyzotonic with every feed mix, could this be a problem. Should I only give them this once a week?

Zoo's canna coco nute feeding schedule
Hey everyone
Over the last year or so alot of people have sent me pm's and asked in the threads the schedule I feed my plants at and exactly what I do so I thought I post this super simple method up for those that want to try it or may wanna switch to coco in the future . First I do feed sooner then most people do and that part is kinda up to you because it can be risky but I do it because it works for me and may not be right for everyone . Ok so when the plants pop out of the coco and need the first watering I water with plain R/O water at a ph of 5.8 to 6.0 and my two watering's after I do the same ph but add 1ml of Canna A+B per gallon and water until runoff and every third watering is plain R/O water at the same ph to runoff to keep salts from building up . Now we should be around our second week and this is when we go up to 2ml per gallon of A+B with the same ph until runoff and do this for two waterings in a row and then the third one with plain R/O water with the same ph until Runoff . Now we should be at the end of week two and this is when we bump up to 5 ml of A+B per gallon and things really start to take off and at this point everything should have a deep green look to it and you may start to notice a slight mag def and when this happens I start with a very low dose of Cal-Mag say around 2 to 3 ml per gallon and within a few dayz things start to turn around but I've only ran into this once or twice depending on the strain but sometimes it takes a bit more Cal-Mag but I always say start low and work your way up to stay safe .Coming into week four I try to max out at 7 to 10 ml of A+B and more of the 7 ml range and never go higher then 10ml per gallon through my whole grow . I also know some of you use Rhizotonic and Cannazyme and when I use these I go at 50% of what Canna recommends and always remember that every third watering is with plain R/o water with a ph of 5.8 to 6.o until runoff so we can keep them salts from building up . I hope this helps and like I said I keep it simple and try to make my grows from seed so just about anyone can get the genetics I grow and have the same results I have . The main thing is to learn to read your plants over time and soon they will tell you what they like and dislike kinda like your children .

Hi

skimmed through this thread hoping to find a few answers specific to my needs.

Firstly whats the IDEAL IDEAL PH range for coco????

When does 'Lock' usually occur in coco???

I have half soil and half coco grow, at the moment my soil is powering past the coco.

Flushed it when i first got it think that was the mistake then, as I was later told that
I didnt have to flush the coco.......... so now have been playing catchup with my soil plants.

At the mo PH is about 6.8........... thinkin this is too high??? am i right???
plants look a lighter greener to my soil plants, so thinkin Nitrogen is getting locked at at that PH level???

I have a mother under a 400w HPS??? stems kinda purple and leaves look FUCKED, her growth has definitely stunted so thinkin PH of 6.8 is the problem??
Need her to survive cos its an ideal strain, doesnt stink the place out and has a good 8 week flower time
for a smooth ass smoke and high

Any help would be much appreciated
