Clone or a clone of a clone

I do mothers the wrong way, drain to waste hydro in pro-mix. It works but they get out of control within a year. Really should be done in soil to slow them down and extend the life span of one "generation".

The changes im speaking of have nothing to do with environment. I have waaay too many environments for that to be possible. (multiple people , methods, ect..)
The article a few pages back explains it good enough for me. Then, what Kassi posted matches the rest of the world.

Yes environment and the other things mentioned can damage the genetics. That was stated in the article posted a few pages back as well. You stated you had bug issues, which can genetically damage a plant and cause it to perform poorly in your room or others.

You don’t have to keep a single mother indefinitely though. If you are taking healthy clones from healthy plants it won’t matter. As long as you haven’t damaged them along the way.

What I posted about environmental effect on phenotypes is something separate that like I said often gets over looked.

I used to do Mother’s in little 6 inch pots of hydroton in a flood and drain. They got cloned every 2-3 weeks for 9 months to a year and then replaced with one of the clones. Plants grew just like the originals.

I have seen plants change, but it was always directly related to a care issue with them, never related to the generation or time frame. Some growers can’t pinpoint their errors and just see the damage the plant took from the problem without ever acknowledging the issue.

My problem is they just grow too fast in hydro. I never grow anything that I just can’t just buy clones of these days so I only keep them for a year or two but I just hate taking of mothers

They do grow fast for sure that’s the only way I could take cuts so often

How is a 5x5 tent in a basement with perfect temps and humidity except for that one afternoon for 2 hrs a bad set up?lol I’m running two 600w hps and my on temp is now at a comfortable 75-77, I baught a 600$ portable AC/humidifier setup the day after the heat/humidity sky rocketed outside causing hot temps in the basement, that’s corrected now. No harm done to plants there still thriving and praying 24/7, day 57 flower today I started scoping buds yesterday the crystal balls are still clear no milk yet

Looking like a minimum 63/64 days for them, probly more like 66/68 for the gorilla zkittlez n blue cheese.. gonna guess the 8ball kush b done at day 65 ish, the rest half a week later
 
Nugz r getting heavy and a blue cheese Branch come off the stake the other day when I was rotating em and it was hanging half way to the floor my buds are solid like rocks, first time not using silica in years(rhino skin, or silica blast) and I kind of regret it tbh

beat the piss outta the bitches! are they running the whore house or are you ? chop 6" off them bitches everyday till they decide to slow down to how you want them. If not beat um up some more. they'll slow down.
for real though , i defol every few days if they decide to grow too fast for my liking. that slows them down a bit. (veg only)

I ended up taking care of some strains for a friend and before I know it I have 6 mothers. Really only want to have 2

6!? yea that fuckin sucks....i have 2 of each and i have 7 total. Fuck that! i dont want anymore then 2 myself. i hate working momas all the time. In my perfect world i would only have 2-4 mothers , all the same strain. I have at least 14 moms and im getting ready to go make about 4-6 more just to keep up.
very soon we will finally be able to get rid of 4 or 5 of them. i hope...
 
I’m so interested in this because pheno hunting is my favorite part of the hobby and I want to keep a lot of good shit around. I’m also interested in preserving some of them long term, and I understand my only options are S1s and tissue cultures, because I don’t have room for a shitload of mothers. I’m still not totally convinced on S1s and suppose I won’t be until I actually try it. Tissue cultures are the most interesting to me. I have a LFH in storage and mad agar skills (lol) from my mushroom growing days. Anyway I’m confident in a clone’s ability to survive for a long time now, but now I’m more interested in archiving them the same way I’ve archived a shitload of different magic mushroom varieties in culture tubes.

Sounds like you are a perfect candidate to do tissue culture, and it seems like the best option to just have a genetic library. If you are keeping mushroom slants then TC for cannabis seems logical. I’m pretty certain you can buy TC kits with everything to get started on a small scale.
 
Might have to get the flowhood out of storage and find a place for it. I can’t get the conditions at my new place clean enough for mushrooms — not enough space and too many contaminants from the weed, but I’m sure I wouldn’t have any trouble keeping plain old agar work clean.

Look man this is what I been trying to explain to these guys, about backing off on water late in flower and cycling it hard.. it says a myth is letting it die from not watering yes, but leaning it back hard certain times after day 45 of flower is beneficial af I know this from experience...

According to William. A. Embodem, insects can be used to deliberately attack the plants so that they raise their defenses in response to the stress, creating more trichomes and THC. This is similar to the legend about putting a nail in your plants stalk, which we do not recommend as you can cause your plant to get an infection and you might lose it. In theory it works because there’s a hormonal change in your plants whenever they’re extremely stressed; they would stop growing flowers but they’d also increase resin production as well as more terpenes and cannabinoids.

Now, it’s time to talk about some other myths that people use when trying to get more THC in their plants:

  • Watering with LSD – Apart from being useless, even if this was done people would end up selling some super psychedelic weed on the market.
  • Letting it die in the pot without watering it – One thing is controlled water stress, another is to let your plant suffer for no reason; this will actually lower THC production.
  • Drying it in the sun – If you do this the THC in your bud will oxidize almost completely until it turns into CBN.
  • Watering it with juice or soda before harvesting – Apart from the fact that your plants won’t have enough time to absorb it, you might end up overdosing it on sugar.
  • Burying it in soil – if it’s humid you’ll end up with fungus and maybe possibly lung infections, and if it’s dry you’ll probably be fine to smoke it but it definitely won’t do anything to the THC levels.
  • Pulling it out with the roots and boiling them – THC is in the resin, which is in turn in the buds, so doing anything at all to the roots is a bit silly.
There’s a happy medium near the end and if u can dial it in, and dry ur pots out to the point of wilt and have them experience sum wilt late in flower at certain stages, increases production like CRAZY I promise.. no hate just telling secrets, and AGAIN Johnny Lawrence an rest of u dummies, no my plants dont look like death during this process just a wee bit ‘stressed’ I guess u could put it, overall my plants are extremely happy tho especially after a nice watering after the cycle!
