Silicon is only one of several promising battery electrochemistry's, there have been breakthroughs in Sulphur based lithium, solid state and other electrochemistry's like Aluminum Graphene that promise fast recharging and doubling or tripling of driving ranges. Things are moving fast in the industry with a lot of players spending a lot of money on R&D. We already know how to build EVs, we just need the batteries and not just for cars either, there is grid storage and billions of computers, phones and other devices that can benefit too. Better, cheaper batteries make renewables like wind and solar much more feasible.

Why This Accidental Battery Breakthrough Matters

31,351 views Jun 14, 2022 Exploring why an accidental discovery may have unlocked the holy grail in battery research: an energy dense, long lasting, and safe battery. Lithium sulfur batteries may be the holy grail of energy storage. Besides fueling electric vehicles (EVs) adoption, they could turbocharge the integration of renewable energy into our electric grid. However, a technical fault has been holding back their economic feasibility…until now. Could this lithium sulfur discovery from Drexel University make it the future of battery storage?

Sure, we'll make to the year 2999, right :)
I can't see it happening
Follow the data/graphs showing the change in average temperature around the globe now in the last 72 years.
www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/01/global-warming-chart-average-temperatures-rising/
Do the math
Each year has shown an increase in temps, with that effect compounding (each year is feeding off the previous year) and thats just heat.
Toss in unusually cold winters in some areas like Texas, we are truly fucked

Wind and solar power are 'bailing out' Texas amid record heat and energy demand
it's about time those ten gallon hats were full of something besides the shit they use for brains in most of Texas...
and the republicans will still bitch about renewable energy, because it's a lot harder to get kickbacks from clean, safe solar and wind farm operators than it is from dirty, crooked coal mine operators and oil companies

I only lasted about halfway through the first quarter. (watching after work from the DVR). I watched the rest of it the next morning. I've changed up my camp nights this week so I can be at the riverhouse Thursday night for game six.

i saw more of that on the news, seems they are also having rock slides too......
On last night's news, I saw one SUV with good sized rocks falling all around it. I would have seen how fast it could go in reverse.

After Hurricane Michael a crew stayed at our work. (heavy equipment response coalition) They bring in tractors with grapples and excavators, etc, etc after natural disasters. He showed me pictures of the last flood they had worked. They spent months cleaning up one small town. As spread out as the damage is in Yellowstone, it will be a job of work to clean it up to tourists standards.

this is a congress person from the state of Georgia...not a late night infomercial host...what the motherfuck is wrong with people in Georgia? i've been to her district, they don't seem any stupider than any other Georgians that i've met, but they must be a special kind of fucking retarded when it comes time to vote...
Gerrymandering helps a lot and perhaps Sherman camped out there on his March to the sea.
