Choosing a rosin press

Im about to do it, fk it. I dont smoke weed anymore and have enough to still give away a few gs since I been dying to share home grown as soon as I finally managed to grow it. I looked up return and if its 30% I get half a g. If its 50-60% I get .9. Thats pretty good I can see why people press dry sift.
 
dry sift pressed at 165 degrees for 180 seconds , just make a flat pilllow. Let me know suggestions as I have to extract it first dry sifting right now. Want to get this right.
 
I come across a lot of strains that their kief just makes me sneeze over and over. I have a small bit as shown gathered from just trimming. Added that to this run. 16 gs and so far first run, 1.1gs kief. Running it again right now hoping for more. Alot looks stripped off already though.

Little bit more second run but the orange hairs are getting through and other contaminants. Should I add it or leave it due to that? Do one more run? There is a bit of sugar left on the shake but the kind that dont shake right off.

And thats what I am saying! Not very frosty like its just not meant for this, that is a very low return. That is like .06 g kief per gram flower. I was used to seeing an easy .25 a gram. It said its 10-15% thc strain.
 
Yall, I got two clones of super shark that finished revegging and ready for further work. Does any of this hint towards being a bad strain for rosin even if I dried it correctly and pressed at 64 rh?

If not I rather just junk the clones which would actually put me back on track to getting closer to getting tuned in in my garden for rosin only strains as clones.
 
Yields on any concentrate or extract are MOSTLY impacted by the starting material. Different strains have different types of resin. Some plants produce a greasy resin, some its sticky, and some are kind of sandy feeling. If you are solvent washing then it wouldn't matter much, but I'm certain that with pressing it would make a big difference. There are some good rosin pressing groups on facebook with tons of info and tech.

The overall quantity and size of trichomes will also impact how much actual oil is in them to be extracted. Many sativa plants have lots of small trichomes that likely carry smaller amounts of oil in them than the huge bulbous indica trichomes. Real "Hash Plants" have been bred to barely produce any buds, but all the plant material on the them will be covered in huge trichomes just waiting to get turned into dry sift in traditional places.
 
Im like virtual bean hunting right now just looking for the frostiest plants and heritages that pulled up at top of search of strains known to produce good rosin yields.

Any suggestions let me know, trying to find one or two if lucky, strains to work with for a while to get settled in and building on top of that.
 
Its a bummer, I thought any weed could be pressed but that super shark just wasnt good for it at all. Makes me want to junk it which I am.

But I have two huge plants that are eggs all in one basket sorta thing that just have to hope makes rosin or one of them does but lining up to do a bean hunt after this run and run 8 clones at a time of strains I do good with.

I got lucky with my auto so thats a sign it may not take very long to figure out. It was gg4 heritage which was known to do great with extracts that came up as a strain to considerin that same search. it was an in house auto version but it sure was resinous.
 
Id hate to have that happen again and am setting up my main grow to avoid that and run clones after bean hunting but what about the auto cabinet?

Is bean hunting with autos a thing, like if one bean from a strain gave me these results, would the next one likely give similar from same strain?

I could and should just run clones but wanted the cabinet to be a show case of a large number of different autos that are tested before buying 5-10 seeds worth of each strain.

Tested in or outside the cabinet. I love what I got going on with it, pretty dope and grateful it turned out perfect first try but that super shark was a wake up call.

Edit as for the virtual bean hunt, I finished that and about to physically hunt through them. I got a lot of what you see here. The anesia seeds test at over 35% thc.

Heres a video of some ooze in action. Any suggestions on how to upload videos here of the same quality as in your library? Every video comes out shotty. Suggestions on other platforms too, how ever I can get quality.
 

Same video but zoomed in, a bit more than I like but it is either that or small frame zoomed out too far. I figured out, just change the video quality to 720p and its the same quality as I have it.

Learnin how to use youtube for this but thats cool, I was about to give up. I could if sworn it wouldnt let you change it. Not sure why but the user has to change the video quality. Wont stay that way automatically.
 
According to press club, silicone breaks down from terpenes from the rosin and can contaminate the rosin. Happens after a week of sitting. How true is this because silicone is the best to put it in to take some out. Was going to clean out hash tins and use glass tins that my wax comes in as something to serve the rosin till its gone.

Just wondering as I wait till the last second to do that and it sticks to glass.

I won't use silicone for that reason. I've experienced the breakdown.
 
Dang, ok. I just thought id ask, growing up all I ever saw was people store their wax in those little silicones. It makes handling great but I guess it has its limitations right then and there. So I guess it wasnt for nothing that I scrub them clean and adhere to that.
