CFL yields

my first grow, which sucked now that I look at it, but at the time it was my first so I loved them and always will, I got maybe half an oz from 5 plants. yeah I know it sucked. but I know have 8 42w daylight CFL for maybe 5 plants in veg. looking really healthy. I did have a problem though. Has anyone placed the lights too close to start their germinated seeds? I started this grow for the 3rd time, and I raised my lights and my plants now look beautiful, maybe 6 inches above the plants. Once I start flowering I'll double the ammount of lights and place those around the sides of the plants. they have only been in veg for about 3 weeks. I don't want them to get too big so I will probably start flowering soon. uh that all. peace.

Well I just accidently broke off a little bud site. I'm only a few weeks into flowering, so it's more or less just a little cluster of hairs, but I'm drying it and I'm gonna sample it in about 30 minutes. I have to find out the truth. About this bud. That smells so good.
that little cluster of hairs would have turned into a good sized nug.

TO:THE BUD DUDE put your lights as close as possalble (6in is way to far) just dont burn your plants, if you need use a fan or two it makes a difference.

I used 380 total watts. 2 4ft tubes, 6 42watt cfls, and 2 27watt cfls. the three plants grew, grew into an intertangled bush 4 feet long about 3 feet high and 2 feet wide. I had an ebb&flo setup with technaflora nutes all the way

Any more questions feel free to ask.
1st pic 9 weeks into grow 1 week into bud
2nd pic night be4 cut down

I know they're not compact, but I'd love to see what people yield with T5 HO tubes. I can just imagine 8-12 of those putting out a ton of lumens in whatever spectrum you want.

hey guys, i know its been a while since ive posted up, but reading through this thread and looking at the new posts, i'd REALLY REALLY like to stress the importance of light PROXIMITY (closeness... inches) to every bud possible.

everywhere you put light, you will smoke. 20$ in CFL's = 100$ bud (8-10 weeks later)... totally worth it. my 1st grow was 1 plant, 2-3 mo veg, 10wk flower, 4ft tall, ~ 3 ounces dry w/ <100watts veg, but almost 400watts flowering. anyways my next grow has just started flowering- here's a couple quick pics, ill have a full update on my original thread.

ps- i helped my buddy start his first grow a week or so ago- he's doing a horizontal grow (i gave him a 2 mo. old cindy cross thats laying down with all shoots straight up... its sick. he'll be on here soon enough as well.

ps- to hackel: me too man, me too...

Yeah! I did that! This is my first grow and my seedling hadn't been getting the growth that I was expecting and it kept that up for a couple of days so I backed the light off a bit and added a fan and I got growth but it was stretching its leaves straight up so I put it back to about 2 or 3 inches away and now I am saying hello to my second set of leaves. This is the only one of three that has survived up til now so I'm praying it s a girl!
