Yeah mine is sitting in the box because it could be strapped to my back and used as a rocket pack. I just use a 6 inch duct fan now and thats fine...

i kno its not mounted yet but its not even vibration sound its just the fan spinnin is it normal its so damn loud???
i got this to put on a can75 filter in a 10x10 room
is it good enuff?

From what I understand, can-fan & vortex brand fans are the most powerful inlines on the market. The trade-off for that power is noise. There is very little you can do to control the noise on these things other than a speed controller / insulated ducting / insulated noise box to house the fan in. I'd imagine with your carbon filter hooked up as well, the noise should subside quite a bit but that fan is just loud bro. If it's really a 10x10 room you're growing in, it's totally necessary & adequate. If you had that kinda money on hand for a can-fan then i'd imagine you have some spare change for some of these noise reduction methods

BTW, I've found that masking fan noise is much easier than eliminating it~~~~this means put a standard "noisy type fan" in a corner or somewhere near your grow room to create noise that cannot be distinguished from your grow room fan. I have an s&p td-125 which is a 197 cfm inline & I had a similar problem with the noise factor & brother let me tell ya, my $12 wal-mart box fan sits about 2 ft from my closet & with it on LOW nobody (not even myself) can distinguish that noise from my fan noise in the closet. The noises just kinda mesh together. I had thanksgiving dinner here w/my family & with that little box fan running on low, nobody noticed a thing. Remember, work smarter, not harder!

Yeah, for a room that big, you need a fan like that. Just silence it as muich as possible. Hang with bugies, put a cardboard box around it whjile hung, should deaden the noise a bit. Just make sure you can't hear it outside.... people get caught that way!

think it will be good to maxe a box for the fan? i could get dynamat too idk

hrmmm....ya, I would say if you can walk by your window outside your pad & it sounds like a jet engine running inside, you've got deeper problems than I can resolve. That would be more an issue of growing too big in the wrong damn location but i'm assuming with only 1 6" can-fan, that's not going to be a problem for you.
its gonna be that 6" recirculatin on the filter + a 4inch can fan connected to a big blue ozone generator to exhaust

I'm confident you'll be able to manage your noise issue with some strategic planning. It can be a lot of trial and error but the payoff is worth it. Those 2 fans I know can produce a lotta noise but as long as you don't have neighbors walking by your window snooping for suspicious "fan noise", I can't imagine you'll have any trouble.

I was thinking about getting that same fan, but now I am not so sure if it is THAT noisy...
I need a fan with enough CFM to cool a 2'x2'x5'3" grow tent with a 250W HPS/MH, AND to cool a mother cab which is about 17"x17"x32".
Can someone point me in the right way for a fan that isn't EXTREMELY loud and would be able to handle both of those cabs with a carbon scrubber? I think the 440CFM would be overkill, and I would imagine that the 6" HO fan running on a LOW setting on a controller would still be loud. Any input?
