You’ll need cal mag. But not for about 3-4 weeks after starting in the medium. Use the one with the least nitrogen.

I use GH Calimagic. Cheap, works and low nitrogen.

Buy a cheap bag of Epsom Salts. Buy a cheap bag of Calcium Chloride. Add a a teaspoon of each to 5L of water, let them dissolve. You now have a calmag solution.

I use Ca/Mg because my well water comes in above .45ec on it's own...I filter it down to 0 then add Ca/Mg back. Before doing that I always had issues with lockout and uptake.

It depends on not only the base nutrients, but also what medium you're using. Growing in coco? --you'll want to have CalMag on hand, but may not need it. Most soil grows, depending on the health of the soil and, again, base nutes used, you may need it but less likely in soil.

Rainwater could have heavy metals and other "fallout" in it, you should check its PPM before use.

I use tap water and it has literally zero Ca or Mg, none. I also have a mate that is a chemist and his opinion is that anyone that buys premixed calmag is literally throwing money down the drain. Now I have been mixing my own for a while, I tend to agree.
