Pumice has been noted to increase microbial activity - although i use perlite too ( mostly hempy) .

Apparently it has nooks and crannies that microbes like to anchor to . I read some paper on it. It doesn’t degrade and highly aerates ( more dense ) better.

I just have both on hand and just show either can be used. I use approximately 25% more to container volume . I use pumice in my “ soil “ mixes - perlite / vermiculite in hempy.

My plants start off looking that good then I neglect the hell out of them and they go to shit.

That pumice looks just like the perlite. Is there a difference? I got a tub of bio-char last year at a farm supply and it had been sitting outside on a skid with 30 more so long that the plastic is real brittle but that won't hurt nothing. Went back there this spring to see if I could get some more and they'd tossed it all out. Manager said the tubs were falling apart so they couldn't sell it. Argggg!

You might know. I mixed a bunch of promix hp with a variety of Gaia Green nutes and the small autos I used some with seem to be taking it fine so I don't seem to have fed too much . . . yet. I burned some plants with that Gaia already getting used to it so a little gun-shy. I prepared enough of that mix to fill 3 - 16L/4gal pots to the brim and packed down tight already well moistened and they've been cooking in the grow room for a month. Just got some fresh EWC and want to add some to those pots before moving the plants in.

I was thinking 2 cups each mixed in or might I be better off just top dressing a cup each once the plants are in?

Its been a while since i “ cooked “ soils. Tried subcool but ran into issues in later growth stages. Then i tried something called “ moonshine mix “ …. That was simple blended bags and amendments without cooking.

I like the ready to use aspect plus i could tweak it easily ( almost on the fly ). I ran different “ recipes “ with neem meal and seabird guano ( flower ). The neem meal i usually add to all retail bags as a way to not only condition the soil but to control pests that nay be brewing in palletized bags. Some FF and others sometimes have gnats and this simple addition beats them back. I add up to 4-5 cups to a 2 cu bag .. toss it together in a tote. I never tried biochar.

The only other amendment i use is liquid kelp. I add a capful to my tap ( every other water ) for its micronutrients.

I stay away from PK boosters and flavor enhancers.
i use seabird quano during mid to late flowering.

I don't believe in using bat or seabird guano. Bats are being wiped out by a fungus spread by guano harvesters and seabird colonies are constantly disturbed by the same sort of folks causing a lot of deaths and trauma. Just farm animal and mushroom manures in my inventory. :)

I've been using that REMO nutes VeloKelp for a while and that's some good stuff. Like a tonic for the plants. I grind up some stuff like zinc, B1, selenium, Vit C and add a little citric acid to give them a little boost like right before the flip.

I might have some fungus gnats trying to establish themselves right now. Got two in a sticky trap over the last couple of days but they could just be no-see-ums. I'll have to scope them to be sure. Got Gnatrol to take care of them.

DWC was so much easier. Got a lot invested in organics now so I'll dial it in eventually.

I don’t know exactly where DTE gets it’s seabird guano but I understand your reasons.

I run GH Maxibloom for my hempy and like it’s ease of use .
Bailed on Dynagro due to the precipitation from solution.
( sadly it even said on bottle to warm soak it ). Shaking the bottle sounded like a maraca .
Neptunes Harvest was a bust too.

I used to watch those REMO vids - what’s your opinion ?

This the kelp additive I use ….. Kellogg’s
It even has some molasses in it for a sugary treat.

I've never seen that one but have some fish ferts called Falling Leaf Westcaost Fish Fert made over on Van. Island. 5-2-2 with humic acid, alfalfa and soy meal, pot. nitrate and phosphoric acid. I haven't even used any of it yet but will add that to the mix with upcoming plants.

Bit of that, some velokelp and a dash of the unsulphured blackstrap molasses up in the baking cupboard should be a decent approximation. I even use some of my unfiltered dugout water to give them a dose of natural bacteria and fungi. Not a lot tho as it's really hard and pH8+.

Ran downstairs and all 3 Pink kush were drooping so gave them a splash of water and turned the light away a bit and will go down and git 'er done! As soon as I'm finished this episode of Land Girls. I swear! :D

I've been using AN nutes for over 20 years now but a couple years ago I won a REMO kit from a little raffle the hydro guy had. 7 - 250ml bottles. All I've really used out of it is the kelp, candy and the Calmag. If I needed the GMB I used my AN stuff then I don't have to screw with pH. With these organics I'm using RO with them and not checking pH at all either. Not even sure if my 10 yo pH pen even works any more but I keep it sitting in storage sol'n and it worked about 6 months ago.

My buddy in the city swears by REMO and knows what he's doing so one upvote there.

I boughta litre bottle of that Earth Juice Meta-K and it had a big lump of crystallized ??? in the bottom so I crushed it all up and stirred it back in but haven't used it at all. Just don't trust it now.

Just a flashback to last October - under HLG. I’ve always been happy with the plants response under them .

Since I plan a new 3x3 / 4x4 grow in the future I figured I would some of the hempy plants i have run.
Again even tho I don’t have a full room to run I make sure I get quality growth. It’s just me and wifey ( 2 knucklehead cats ) and my 4 vet buddies from local VA center. One was stationed at Rammstein with me. He has some anxiety issues and try to get him some tincture - without big pharma.
VA does catch cannabis use ( blood / urine ) when you do “ labs “ … never was told not to.
Simple DTW buckets 1-2 gallon .

3;1 perlite vermiculite mix
Hydroguard
GH Maxibloom
Tap 5.9

Blackbird -

Slowly getting another tent up and running with the Blckbird rig ( thanks HLG :blsmoke: ) - still trying to finalize what’s gonna go where.
Brought in my trusty SunBlaze T5HO lamp for some soft start germinations and or cuttings. Got a good deal on this lamp a coupe of years back on this switchable 8 tube lamp.

That thing is actually heavier than HLG rig.

Been a little under the weather - Not Covid ( negative ) - head stuff / sore throat probably the dry weather and pollen bs.

Still plan at least 2 hempy but may run some plants that are outgrowing my other 3x3.

Cool. Following for the Ethos gear, always wondered about that White Wedding, and their autos.

So you bailed on Dynagro. I've been using FP (with Power Si) exclusively. Just curious, what issues did you have with DG?

It would separate in solution - shake bottle and hear the bits and pieces rattling around. I moved over to GH MAXIBLOOM ( Powder ) not only for better shelf life but ease of use . Maxibloom can run a plant from start to finish . Foliage pro is the better one over original.

I have been training the White Wedding plants and a top. They have been growing well since beginning LST.
I am in no hurry to flip them so I will just keep shaping it. I also have an Ethos Auto Cookie in stretch / preflower.

Cali heat ( 96-103° ) over the weekend has been a slight issue - minor tacoing . But have managed to keep them ok.

Absolutely loved my pre-production QB 304s also! I passed them on to my son-inlaw and they are still banging out fine crops! Think i got mine around mid 2016.

Second Grow :

Well , had to just get shit started . Brought online my “ workhorse “ QB rig in a 3x3. These are the oldest boards I have running.
These were bought and built in 2015 …. And have never stopped working. Boards are original LM561C smd ( QB 304 3500k ) mounted as a quad with CITI COBS ( 3500k ) - COBS were actually sold by HLG ( northern light co. ) back then .

These OG boards do not have any red supplemental. I like the 3500k as it tempers any unnecessary stretch and always keeps nodes pretty tight.
I was going to modify this rig with QB30 ? ( UV ) but I might add later. This rig has been run perpetually for at least 7 years ( with only light cycle changes ).

Strain :
Ethos White Wedding RBX ( photo )
Ethos Cookie Auto
Light cycle :
18/6
Medium :
Layered mix - Recipe 420 base
Dynomyco
Pumice
EWC
Recharge 6-8-4 ( recipe 420 dry fertilizer )
tap water

Started to train them bitches too !
