Budzbuddha’s House of HLG ( end of summer ) grow

Buenos Nachos …..

Today marks a new “ multi “ grow ….. I will have a couple of grows growing under HLG lights. Lights and rigs designed and built by me .
Each rig will be shown with various plants running as perpetuals. I have been a long time user of Horticulture Lighting Group since the beginning.

Each rig and supplemental rigs will be HLG products only. Each grow will highlight both autos and photos .
I will run a SOG style 12/12 , a 18/6 autoflower grow and a photo cycle grow. Strains will vary - Ethos / Dutch Passion / Barney’s/ My crosses.

For this grow will also include hempy buckets and soil.

QB products for these various grows : QB 304’s / QB 96’s / QB 225 / QB 288’s
I wanna give props to HLG for years of great customer service and products ….. looking forward to what you guys dream up next.

First Grow :

QB96 ( 320 watt )
Strain : Ayahuasca Purple ( Barney’s )
2 plants in layered peat mix
Dry fertilizer : Recipe 420 ( 6-8-4 )
Tap Water



SOG style plants are 12/12 from seed and one has began to flower , other hasn’t shown yet ( nail biting )

Second / Third grow :

Strains : Cherry Soda Twist ( Cherry do si do x BCS Black Cherry soda ) - my cross.
Ethos Endgame R2 ( S1 ) - I selfed last grow of this strain for seeds. ( STS reverse lower branches )

These solo cup grows will be also layered soil mixes. They will be transplanted into 1 gallon bags.

The grows I will show will be smaller in scale as I have plenty of stash for months. I figured a set of plants here and there is mostly for shits and giggles. Some of the “ proceeds “ will go to some vet buds I know - one battling cancer. So I figured I would do these mostly for them .

First Grow :

Ayuhasca Purple
( left plant is accelerating in sexxing ) finally as her sister is stacking up. Originally I avoided Barney’s, but figured I would try another strain from them. Plant rub is pretty intense so I have high hopes. This strain has some Master Kush lines ( me likely ) and would help those with pain and stress.
Perfect for my buddies.

Even though these plants have a start on others , it fits perfectly for HLG Giveaway as they were under HLG lights anyways.
I never ran this strain so I am hoping for the best …..

I had to rope down some lackiness on one of them but will watch what happens with her.

Sounds like you're off to a great start. Anything with master kush in it gets a big thumbs up from me. Hope you have a great run.

Have Master in jar ( dutch passion ) and it does check the boxes. Just find Barney’s hit and miss sometimes.

I'm just a kush fiend of all kinds. Bubba, OG, Triangle and a few others all are on my list of great medicine for pain and sleep.

I grew out some of that Ayahuasca Purple from Barney's a while back. Nice stuff but didn't really have the medicinal effect I was looking for so moved on to try others. The leaves went a bit purple near the end but not the buds.

More into indica leaning strains and high CBD with minimal THC like <1% these days for formulating my own medicines like gummies and topicals. I take a small dose of RSO and a CBD chocolate every night to shrink my prostate and damned if it doesn't work well. Also supply a couple friends with late stage cancers with RSO and a few more with arthritis like me and other issues free of charge. Almost everything will be made into CC oils then samples sent to a lab in Vancouver so I know what I'm working with.

Yeah I’m going to convert these to tincture as the guys that will receive it do not smoke.

Second Grow :

Well , had to just get shit started . Brought online my “ workhorse “ QB rig in a 3x3. These are the oldest boards I have running.
These were bought and built in 2015 …. And have never stopped working. Boards are original LM561C smd ( QB 304 3500k ) mounted as a quad with CITI COBS ( 3500k ) - COBS were actually sold by HLG ( northern light co. ) back then .

These OG boards do not have any red supplemental. I like the 3500k as it tempers any unnecessary stretch and always keeps nodes pretty tight.
I was going to modify this rig with QB30 ? ( UV ) but I might add later. This rig has been run perpetually for at least 7 years ( with only light cycle changes ).

This will have to wait til after weekend to get put up and plants placed …… got my kids poppin around again and extra room will be used.


That grow will be running the QB225 rig.
So maybe I will run a hempy under it. Haven’t decided.

First Grow :

Plant is starting to correct and will get more adjusting. This one has a different pheno compared to her sister ( lankier ) but healthy.
We will see what happens.

Side note : My layered mix is throwing shrooms

Transplant time - ( third grow plants )

Cherry soda Twist ( yes …. I went with a foodie name ) daughter got me some Black Cherry ice cream ( my kryptonite ).
Any hoot - Girls were looking pretty good in the recycled medium cups. However as I part ways with my visitors ( and slam door ) , I will setup thar final grow spot for them …… meantime they be chillin under the QB 304 rig.

Transplanted into this simple and effective substrate. I use Dynomyco for my microbials . Base peat mix is ( EB STONE ) Recipe 420 with EWC ( approximately 15% of container volume / perlite - pumice / Recipe Recharge dry fertilizer 6-8-4 . I use pumice in conjunction with pumice as more aeration but also myco just loves the nooks and crannies of the pumice. This the mix that throws shooms too …. Very rich.

My plants start off looking that good then I neglect the hell out of them and they go to shit.

That pumice looks just like the perlite. Is there a difference? I got a tub of bio-char last year at a farm supply and it had been sitting outside on a skid with 30 more so long that the plastic is real brittle but that won't hurt nothing. Went back there this spring to see if I could get some more and they'd tossed it all out. Manager said the tubs were falling apart so they couldn't sell it. Argggg!

You might know. I mixed a bunch of promix hp with a variety of Gaia Green nutes and the small autos I used some with seem to be taking it fine so I don't seem to have fed too much . . . yet. I burned some plants with that Gaia already getting used to it so a little gun-shy. I prepared enough of that mix to fill 3 - 16L/4gal pots to the brim and packed down tight already well moistened and they've been cooking in the grow room for a month. Just got some fresh EWC and want to add some to those pots before moving the plants in.

I was thinking 2 cups each mixed in or might I be better off just top dressing a cup each once the plants are in?
