But my favorite is dry ice kief. IMHO the water washes out some of the flavor, dry Ice doesn't. And it' easy to make. put some dry trim & dry ice into a bucket and shake!....out comes un-washed sweet blond kief.....good luck.....

thanks doublejj appreciate the pics! I Think I got some Large scale bubble hash for xmas. looks just like that and doesn't have the scent/taste I would like. But that dry ice looks like the way to go. Ill most likely try a small wet run when I get the bags. I liked how it came out without any screens (that papertowel run I did). I thought most of that was on the blondish side and still had some taste (I did use bottles of drinking water rathet than city water from the tap. I think that would make a big taste difference no?

The last day of 2013 is upon us. What a year. best ive ever had weight wise. thanks to experience ive been gaining over the last few years and great weather. I also did my yearly accounting and I spent the same on bud this year than last year(3gs), hopefully will see a nice dropoff next year. still no hash but soon. gotta get a few more things and its time. 2014 here we come

Thanks my brother. One of the tricks to making dry ice hash is to use very dry trim. And also pre-freeze the trim. I use my 100mic bubble bag, but any silkscreen should work. I know people who use a silk curtain. You can sometimes find silkscreen at Arts & Crafts stores. Good luck.

Did a small test run with the bubblebags to see how things would work. Glad I did it small rather than all out. My first mistake was only freezing my trim for a couple hours. should have done overnight at least. also had a slight issue with the bags wanting to come up every one I put in. By the time I got the 5th bag in and folded over it was more than halfway up the bucket. (outside edges would slide down bringing the bottoms up.) I think next time no folding over. Ive seen it done without. So with the not so frozen trim the trichs didn't break off too good. did better on the 2nd run but saved the trim for another run. also want to trim/shave the nubs on the bottom of the buckets so when I turn the bag inside out on it there is a smooth surface to scrape on. hopefully ill get a couple un-impressive pics up soon.

you can see how far folded over that work bag is. not much room for the trichs to separate. also a pic of the wet trim afterwards. you can see the trichs still on there. got the feel for how the bags work and best way to collect it. Ive got a bunch of bud I might concentrate for storage.

oh yea that first pic is the bud ive been using the trim off of. when I was harvesting/trimming I noticed how frosty the leaves where so I left a good 1/4" extra just to save for this purpose. well that's what it looks like breaking it down. solid bud, leafy material and a little bud in the bottom right corner to see what they looked like at first.

If I may?....for one thing you need a 'ton' more ice.......and 2nd, pre-freeze your trim..........trust me......

Yea DJ I really messed up not freezing that long enough. I used more ice than that pic. probly about 4 big cups worth all together. This was really just a test run to see how the process would go. And again those nubs on the bottom of the bucket have to go, and definatly a longer/deeper freeze for the trim. And yes more ice with bigger loads.

and as for doing bigger buds, do you really need to break it down small or would it be enough to just remove the stems and let it break apart while stirring? thanks

it works better if you break it down, but not essential. The more you agitate the better, what are you stirring it with? you might try one of those paint mixer attachments on a drill motor. Good luck.

Works way better if oyu break it down. Gotta remember when you take a nug and break it open what do you see inside more trichs.

The more frozen the product is the easier the Trichs will break off.

Also if using a paint mixer dont go to fast you will end up beating the trim to hard and get alot of Chlorophyll
which will make your end product greenish in color you want to end up with a blondeish color hash.

Also paint mixers Destroy the trichs but all this is IMO just giving you info outside of the box lol.

thanks guys, ive just been using an eggbeater and getting my flex on. tense up like im beating off lol. It seemed to work good that run with papertowels and actual frozen trim. And I plan on breaking it down a little but not so much im knocking off and busting trichs. And I would think multiple runs would sort of get into the depths of the buds with all that beating.

Just remember the more you beat it the more its gonna turn green and have Chlorophyll in it.

Personally i do three runs with 10 mins of agitation inbetween each pull, and will keep adding ice do keep it super cold.

Yea I like that idea of 3 runs and not beating the green out of it the first 2 runs. Went better than the last time because I let it freeze this time. Didn't really use that much either. once again wanting to make sure I have my technique down. Pretty much only thing I didn't do by the book is keep adding ice. I added a whole bag when putting in the water at first stirred it and let it chill out for a while. then added another half bag right at the start. plus the trim was frozen and on the 3rd run I used that chunk of frozen trim from the 1st bubble run I didn't freeze. had ice the whole time. just felt like too much would get in the way of trichs falling.

1.cutting the nubs for a better scrape. 2. ice 3. third run with the big hunk of fozen trim (had to break up by hand). 4.first 2 runs on right, third on left. 5. close up of 160 micron. 6. close up of 73 micron 7. the 25 micron. 8. pressed.

also forgot to mention had a 120 micron that didn't collect a thing. stuff went through to the bottom 2 bags but nothing that size. I thought that was pretty weird.

Oh yea DoubleJ I see what you were saying about the smell and taste being kindof washed away. I could smell the dankness while I was mixing away. but when I pressed it was scentless. But im sure it doesn't wash away the powah.

It has all been smoked. I would say I have somewhat of a love/hate relationship with hash. I love the clean and energetic high compared to smoking bud, I got a lot of stuff done and felt more productive (especially the bigger trichs) the smaller gooier stuff made me zone out a little. But the hate part comes in when I got none left and have to go back to bud. My tolerance is up so it doesn't hit me as hard and I feel like it drags me down too. I would love it if I could supply myself with hash on a constant basis... maybe one day.

still prefer to make a thin hockey puck and poke 4-5 holes and put on top of bud in a pipe. thinner burns better, but also quicker. I used to preach the under a cup method but that Is somewhat wasteful and its hard to get a really hard hit.

lol I don't know about you all but im a big fan of the show workaholics. just the sheer stupidness really cracks me up. well watching an episode were they dropped a hilarious joke to show there boss they could be a part of a roast. here goes "whats the difference between a pile of dead babies and a pile of sand?"..."I don't eat sand".

I thought it was very well written haha.
