Another one I just ran across in another thread that I don't know if it's been said:

"The plants need darkness. 24/0 is a bad light cycle and will hurt growth/yield.".

Well, considering I veg in 24/0 and have for eight years where on average I get about a 1/2 lb per plant, I'd have to say we've got another broscience statement.

You should still spray neem with lights off. I know you likely know this, leaving for others who may not.

Well, Marley has been known to improve plant health. When listening to Marley, you're probably stoned out of your tree, which means you can't count or measure, so it's far less likely the plants will be over-fertilized in these conditions, rendering the plants healthier than if you weren't stoned out of your mind listening to Marley. ;)

this is a difficult one, because both sides have good arguments... multifold...

e.g. IF lights are too strong, and plants are capped on CO2, then alot of photosynthesis doesn't happen with CO2 but O2 instead resulting in a toxic buildup - which is cleared in the darkbreath at night by "rubisco"...

also, plants actually count the number of day-hours, store energy for that, and then still grow during the night... there's actually some evidence out there that show root development is better if you give a night....

but actually all these processes can happen as well during the day, at a somewhat reduced strength... and for HID lamp users, an "always-on" mode is really best! preventing lightloss from bulb degradation... can also use a less stong lamp then or light out a greater areal with it...

then it seems some plants grow even more healthy under 24h lights as 18/6...

Those are good, valid arguments for certain. I've just personally not had any negative effects of 24/0 across the dozens (at least three) of strains I've grown over the years.

Ironically though, for the first time ever, I just downed my last running veg tent to 18/6 to cut electric a little bit, as I'm slowly decommissioning all of my tents except for a single one I'll do some seed/pollen runs in, except for my clone tent. It's always running. When I'm not cloning cannabis, I often have herbs and stuff in it.

yeah, there is also this stuff about the "Daily Light Integral" which basically says a plant just needs a specific amount of photons per day, and it's good. Some guys I know report that they don't see a difference in growth from going 12/12 from seed or using the Gas Lantern Routine (which I feel would take a heavy toll on HID lamp degradation...) but all of this is mostly tight to the number of photons arriving at the the leaves.

So a 12/12 grower that vegs under 250w MH would ultimately give the same amount of photons than a 125w 24h grower.

So I think that the "dialing part" of a grow setup is what really counts and an experienced grower will therefore show better results over just what some theory says IMO.. plants can adapt to many circumstances... even unnatural states... :peace:

Yes, it would make sense esp. because the wind outdoors causes sound constantly and this "shaking" may stimulate internal processes just like a massage on us.... an oscillating fan in a grow space may also create 35db to 50db of noise that may add to this plus, to the wind it creates.... you see, then there are maybe scientists doing comparative studies in a sound-proof environment where the control-plant is completely isolated from any soundwave, so their experiments may come off as "false positives". Just a guess though... haven't looked into it, really, currently turning the pages on roots... if we equate music = sound, though not all sound is music, frankly....

Besides veg but clones like consistency.....temp, rh. My experience is 24 works best for me.

That's an LOL from me. Lightning makes for great nighttime light shows, and its fantastic at starting fires, but that's all.

If someone thinks some electricity is going to magically make the water cause the plants to grow better, they ought to lay in a full bathtub with their plants, and drop a hot 240V, 50A appliance into the water and witness first hand how awesome that works.
