My guess they were in a drunken stupor. Mom on a couch in their mansion and dad in the arms of a regretful mistress. A life of drinking takes its toll even for the privileged. They look unhealthy and dissipated even after the make-up treatment that they most surely got. Dad's rheumy eyes and rum blushes on the cheeks, moms dried up bleach blonde hair and flaky, wrinkled skin are tells that they both had a good working relationship with the business end of a bottle. The apple didn't fall far from the tree in Brett's case.

alcohol is PURE sugar which ravishes the face with free-radicals..you're right on about dad's eyes..they have that bloodshot moist yellowish look to them when you see up close in other pics.
