all other things being equal, which do you prefer?

i ask because i had a neighbor drop by with some dispensary weed today for us to try, she said it was very potent, great taste, decent smell. my wife tried it and couldn't finish the bowl.

anytime i try dispensary weed, i can tell immediately if it was grown in soil or hydro (mostly, it's all done in hydro). maybe i'm just getting snobbish after three years of only ever growing organically in soil. i don't know, so i thought i'd see what everyone else has to say.
Mostly strain dependant. There are some strains that can do very well in hydro without sacrificing taste. For instance the chronic plant. IMO a good majority of strains I have dealt with generally taste better with soil grows but I am no where near doing every strain.

There is a difference between synthetic chemical fertilizers and organic material which contain chemicals of which all living matter is made. That was my point, next time instead of hinting at something why dont you SAY IT!! I am many things but a moron is not one of them. PS Go Fuck Yourself
I hope you are not speaking to me. I Never called you a moron. A vauge statement like "there is a difference" is just that, vauge. All living matter consists of chemicals. Same with synthetic chemicals. Same with organic chemicals. The nitrogen molecule the plant receives is always a chem, synthetic or organic. And it will benefit the plant in both forms. The benefits of each are debatable, but the chemistry is not. Now I am going to go deposit some chemistry into my girlfriend.

Too drunk to go on, maybe tomorrow if I remember this thread, I will explain further. Maybe someone will do it for me whatever. I'm going to bed which is made of chemicals.

So im gonna go smoke our favorite chemical and go the fuck to bed. Peace.

EVERYBODY CHILL. Damn, lol . But how much less is the yield if i grow in soil than in hydro? Im a noob who needs to know this kind of stuff, as most people. I smoke A LOT Lol

I'd say that all else being equal (strain, grower's skill level, etc.) hydro will have a 15 to 20 per cent edge in mass yield. Jmo. cn

having only seen hydro and never done it myself, this sounds right.

i would say that it's just enough more to not justify the extra work and (debatable) drop off in taste.

Soil or hydro for taste it depends on what it is, to me. I prefer NYC Diesel as hydro, organic it's got a heavyness that covers the grapefruit flavours a lot and only lets the fuel come through. Big Buddha Cheese I prefer organic, the hydro nugs just don't have that full stinky sock kinda skunky dankness that stays for a long time after a hit.

All boils down to personal preference anyhow, when I first ran into proper DANK it was always indoor and hydro so I guess I'm more used to the 'clean' flavoured smoke (more like a mist really) as opposed to the thick and greasy organic smoke.

I can tell the difference but at the end of the day if it gets me where I need to go then that's all that matters to me.

You know this is where I am woefully ignorant. I wish I could sit down with some of you really knowledgeable ones and do like a wine tasting and have someone show me the difference who really knows and is honest. Isolation sucks.

I've grown in coco, hydro, and soil. Im certainly no expert by any means, but I like soil the best, and soil seems to cure faster than the others.

I have an undercurrent system... and let me tell you... you need to be a fuckin expert to grow in that thing.. 2 grows in the undercurrent and both harvests were not ideal...

But, from what I have been told, and what I have seen, UC systems can give you giant harvests.. if that's what you're in to. Personally I like quality over quantity.
