Best reflectors-Need help?

yes I might just stick with the flat white plant although i was thinkin wouldnt mylar help prevent fires from breaking out? I Plan on using 2 400 watt MH lights in a 2x6 room do you- does anybody think that wil be to much heat on the walls?.

The walls will be fine as long as you have the temps in range for your plants to grow healthfully in. If it is hot enough to catch walls on fire do you really think that a plant could grow in that temperature?

What should the temp. of the grow room be for vegation? Should the temp differ. when its time for flowering?

No, that's aluminum foil. Mylar is easily flammable, your lighter can ignite mylar. Foil is not flammable by any means. It requires more energy to sustain ignition than it gives off from it, so it self-extinguishes.

I've attempted to ignite cardboard with aluminum foil glued to it(applying flame to the foil-side, of course)... my lighter melted before flame happened(maybe I'll try it again?)... the cardboard turned black and smoked, but did not ignite.

76-78°F is the best temps but you get away with low 80's if you have to. Anything over 85°F is too hot

Thanks tom- Is your input on this to use white flat paint also, or mylar? For the people that have used mylar does it reflect hot spots on the plants? Overall which is the best reflector to use?

Another question i had was would it be a good idea to lay mirros on the base of the floor to reflect light upwars or would this be to much of a reflection?

i have never used or heard of anyone using it but htgsupply.com has this stuff called "omniflect reflective film" they say its the best (and most expensive) reflective material they have

I use mylar but I think that flat white paint would be easier. Mylar is a bitch to hang and it doesn't clean very well. If you have the money five the omniflect a try. That stuff looks great, very reflective and apparently easy to hang

Although What did you guys think of the mirrors on the base of the ground. I need somthing because its carpet of right now.

Mirrors do not reflect light they absorb it so a mirror on the ground would be bad. You don't need to worry about having your floor being reflective. Just put down a tarp or some plastic sheeting you use when you paint a room. As long as it is waterproof you are good to go

Really? Im glad i found that out now, because i was orginally going to buy a bunch of mirros. Although was if i put that aluminum foil down, would that help? Or do you think it would be pointless and just somthing else down to prevent was leakin through the bottom of the buckets? Dont most people have reflectors underneath there plants?

Could you sum that up? are you sayin not to buy a reflector for my hood?

WOW that's nuts, althought my room is 2x6 and probably wouldnt work as well. I was plannin on using those 400 watts MH to start the seeds out but what should the temp be when the seedlings are being started out? still around 76-78?

Yes, and I would start the seeds with some CFL's or something. I think that the 400 watt MH will be too strong of a light for the youngsters
