Hey man, your little girls are looking wonderful!! I find 20/4 to be an awesome light regiment for the Diesel Ryders Im currently growing. Im sure it will also be great for yours, I have always wanted to grow a blueberry strain thats for sure!

Was just gonna mention one thing, if you use the MH you will also have to have some red/orange spectrum bulbs as well for flowering. Floweirng under the MH alone will give you much more branches & leaves, and much less bud. I would suggest an HPS of equivalent wattage, but if you cant get that just use some high wattage CFLs that are about 2700K or labeled as "Warm White" bulbs.

As far as the nutes, just wait a bit before starting them, and yeah always be worried about overdoing it. A plant grown with no nutes at all will yield more than one you kill with nutes, lol! Use like 1/8 or 1/4 the recommended amount to start, them work your way up.

Good luck and keep the pics coming!!

thanks for the info:weed: i have a agrosun gold bulb, it has a lot of the red spectrum, i used it on my last grow. it is the bud in my avatar. :peace:

whats up? i have started 2 lowlife auto-blueberry feminized. the pics are 4 days after germ. i have them under 4 42w cfl, for 20/4, will switch to a 400w mh when they get a little bigger. does anyone have any experience with these? i am a little nervous about the nutes, don't want to over do it. any help would be appreciated:peace:
Can you not get a 400w HPS bulb that'll work in your ballast?
Flowering anything with MH is not reccommended.

The look great by the way.

good luck

Here are a pictures of the lowryders I have going on right not. I had a bad batch of seeds, only 2 of 10 germanaited; nothing wrong with my techinque as I was also using the same method to germanate Afghan Kush and Lemon skunk and I had 100% germ rate on them. So I think I might of got a mutant seeds; well at least they are autoflowering.

So as they grew they got more and more different so much so I am now doubting that one is even a Lowryder at all. They have both had the exact same watering, light, nuts and the rest.

Little branching, skinny leaves and big buds (relative to the other)
IMG_0007.jpg
MASSIVE branching, wider leaves, smaller buds.

Any ideas. I am going to be doing a seed run and I will pollinate a bit of both plants. Just as I want to see what I get out of it.

Oh and any ideas on yield?

Honestly, every grow I have done so far has had a 4" high velocity (non oscillating) fan from walmart blowing on them at all times. I just make sure that its not blowing too hard on one plant causing it to bend over. Not only does having a fan going all the time help fatten the stalks more, it stirs the air in the cab nicely so the air doesnt become too still or hot.

The stalks on my 2 largest plants are bigger than my fat thumb at the base, and they have had a fan on them since about day 14.

As far as CFL lights go, the best place to get them without buying online is home depot or any hardware store. Usually the hardware stores carry the 42w CFLs that are 2700k and great for flowering. Home depot carries a 68w 2700k CFL for $15 that is amazing, but the size of a football. As far as what lights to use for the beginning of your plants life, I would use a couple 26w 6500k (Daylight) bulbs from walmart or a hardware store mixed with a 42w 2700k (Warm White). If you are able to order online, 1000bulbs.com is the best place to go, they have EVERYTHING! Just make sure to get the compact flourescent bulbs (CFLs) that look like this:

Hope that helps, and good luck!!

OK, I'm glad this topic came up, I'm curious if auto flowering strains are not dependent on light time for flowering, what light temp would be optimum. 6500k until they start to flower, then 2700k like you would use for normal strains.

I've been following a thread where this guy is growing regular strains in a PC case using LST 12/12 from seed. He uses a combination of about 80% 2700k and 20% 6500k. He says the 6500k keeps the leaves from starting to yellow early.

He does really great. Has 3 plants growing at a time at different stages. Averages about 20 grams per plant.

the agrosun gold bulb has a lot of the red spectrum. it is almost the same color as a hps. i am going to get a conversion bulb, but i'll lose about 600 lumens.:peace:

Yeah I would say a mixed spectrum will do best. I dont know for sure about the 6500K preventing the leaves from yellowing early, but I have read that a mixed spectrum is much healthier.

The thing about 2700 vs 6500 is that you can grow a plant from seed to harvest under 2700K lights with decent results, whereas a 6500K will not produce very good buds at all.

As far as autoflower strains go, I think you hit the nail on the head with 6500K till flower then 2700K, or even 2700K mixed with 6500K. I have 4 2700K, 1 2000K & 1 4000K bulb in my big fridge and the plants seem to be loving all of it.

Not true, you will suffer from a slightly smaller yield, but the potency is often changed for the good. well thats what DJ Short says.

Hey guys, just thought I would do a quick picture update on my Diesel Ryder SOG I have going. I ended up with 8 females and they are all trying their best to fill up my single 150w HPS mini fridge. I put them in 2 liter soda bottles cut just above the label. Here is a shot of them all I took yesterday, which was day 21. After taking this pic, I used some junk to prop up all the plants but the tallest, so their tops are all even now.

Things are coming along great, cant wait to see what I yield. My major concern at this point is going to be smell. I fixed my scrubber a bit, but I have only had 3 DRs max in there at one time, 8 will really give the scrubber a run for its money. I have 3 large plants in my garage fridge, and there was literally no smell until I added one little 35 day old diesel ryder. After that, when you walk into the garage its a VERY pungent skunk smell. Here is the one DR I placed out there that is getting the chop either tonight or tomorrow. It has been on 12/12 for 3 weeks now, so its not nearly as big as it should be, but moving it to the big fridge completely got rid of the gnats in my mini fridge so it was worth it! Trichs are at least 50% amber at this point, and the sample smoke was very potent.

Im so glad to see this thread taking off, there is a lot of interest in these AF strains now. All the nay sayers dont add up to a hill of beans when people are pulling 1-3oz off an 8 week old plant!! Who cares if the THC is 1-5% less, and in some cases its even higher than some non AF strains! Point is, theyre small, finish fast, and get you HIGH!! Im glad to see a lot of people around that love them as much as me, I cant wait to get my hands on a strain that is a little less stinky though, if anyone has any recommendations Im all ears!!

Peace

hello fellows,

first grow. i just took my 2 lowryders out of papertowels and placed them in FF soil today, 2gal pots. i've got 260W cfls (4 x 42 , 4 x 23) equal mix of 27k and 65k. temp is between 80-87 with humidity at 40 or so.

i'll post pix when i can. i'm very exited and trying very hard to stay away and not check on them every other minute LOL.
i 've read this thread all the way through LOL. you guys have some great looking plants!!!!got my seeds from sannie by the way.

i picked up a spray bottle from the 99cent store today and kicked myself for not going there before HD,lowes, walmart. they had 23w 2700k cfls, zipties, rope, bungee cord, tools, ex cord, gift wrap, potting containers ,duct tape ,on and on. go to the 99cent store first walmart second then HD....ohh great cheap cabinets, charging adapters, thnigs made of aluminium you can cut up at goodwill and vetrans thrift shops. feels good shopping for grow stuff there too.

i only had to get my FF soil from a grow shop. i had my bag of soil on the counter ready to pay when i saw what i thought were peet-cubes-things. i asked how to use them. guy says put seed in hole soak blah blah blah. i go home and realize they are rockwool starting cubes for hydro....the guy saw my HUGE BAG OF SOIL ON THE COUNTER AND KNEW I WAS A NOOB AND STILL LET ME BUY THEM!!! only a few bux but what a jackazz...sorry had to vent.

thanks

its my first time using rockwool cubes too, is it ok to plant the cubes into the main container?
The roots will happily grow through the rockwool, just make sure you've adjusted the PH of the rockwool first.

Just thought I'd show you all mine....

This is Nirvana's New(ish) strain "Short Rider" (Its a cross between Top44 (A popular commercial strain and Early special which is the autoflower)

Anyone who is thinking of buying them thinking they are going to be small and short plants - please think again - Mine are 9 weeks old, under a 400w HPS and are on a 12/12 light schedule (after 7 weeks vegging under 18/6) They didn't autoflower for me either even though Nirvana states that it would!
I'm just glad I have the space for them! Overall I'm happy but I thought I'd pre-warn anyone thinking of buying Short Rider as a small autoflower grow (they might not go according to plan)
Peace:peace::twisted:
