I keep finding spider mites in the outdoor (legal) garden
I found them in my tent room about a week or two ago and have been using lots of Eco-Neem (neem oil extract) to keep them in check. It seems to be working really well because even though it's not a knock down spray I haven't seen a single bug or chew hole since I started applying it. I only hoped to limit their growth but it's possible they aren't even in my tent room anymore. I've been spraying every 3 days or so though and doing each plant leaf by leaf to make sure it's a through coating.
When I first found them my wife was like where did they come from and I was like I dunno they just appeared... well since then I found them on an ornamental ginger plant. It's a good looking plant and was actually in flower, but rather than keep on a persistent and thorough treatment of it I just decided to ditch it. I snapped it off at soil level and then poured the top portion of the soil out into the bin too. Ginger grows back from the root though right? Maybe?
That was a few days ago, now today I was sorting some things out and I came across a sad looking plant I forgot about. I forget what it's called... has frilly like leaves and flowers.. yeah one of them... anyway it's been looking shit for a while and not getting better... then I remembered the wierd symptoms on other plants I've found had mites (yellowing, drooping, stunted growth) and yeah- it had them too. I chucked the whole thing out with all the soil too.
At this rate, i'm probably going to throw away all my thin leaved garden plants. I've pitched 2 pots of mint, a flowering ginger plant and the other plant I don't know the name of...
