Yeah, from what I remember, it was around the mid 90's when it kicked off. It was quite controversial stuff when it first started kicking around.

$10 a seed, $150 for a 15 pack. Mango Haze from MNS...

Worth it?

I am interested in it...I would like something that is a bit more Australian.

Reason being, I have several friends that grow hops. I'm sure that you know that hops are related to mj. The hops that come out of the USA are different to the hops coming out of europe and nz. The same rhizomes grown in the USA and Australia yield completely different smelling hops.

Chinook for instance, when grown in USA has a grapefruit aroma and harsh bitterness. Grown in Australia and it has more of a lemony and peach aroma, with a milder bitterness. So, as I grow outdoors and not indoors (I would presume that indoors would not have the variations)...then I would not want to be always buying seeds that were bred under different conditions and will ultimately yield a different (if not unknown) result.

Seems that Shanti's stuff would be more suited to outdoors in Australia, would I be wrong in assuming that?

Cheers

Howdy 'ome. I really like your input lately mate, some things I would like to discuss in detail certainly. Unfortunately I'm typing from a phone ATM (too with a cracked screen hahaha!) so my input is limited for the time being.
Couple things- if you order direct from shanti your more likely to receive 20+ seeds.
- yes plants express differently depending in where there grown, take for example Kangativas mullum madness which he grows for 9 months of the year of course only here in Oz are you likely to get the soaring results.. Another example are 'Hawaiin' (landrace) strains, though not true landrace will only express the best qualities when grown on the big island, maybe due to the volcanic rich soil..
IMO no I don't think your better off with shantis gearhere, I don't think it is acclimatized here axtually but certainly top genetics which will grow hard and big. IMO better then strains bred outside in the northn hemisphere.
I think there may be some correlation to what substrate a plant was bred in and it's performance in your own garden.

Poyce.

No, I'm in Adelaide...and to be honest, I have enough seeds to last me the next grow season. Have 5 vortex and 5 jilly. Will be growing most of them out next grow season depending on where I live. Try and keep a cutting of both jilly and vortex and roll from then on. I'm just spending time on getting to know what strains are out there and get a feel for what I really want to grow. Still a bit pissed that I am growing GHS gear atm, but am giving the plant the best possible chance to shine. So thanks for the offer of seeds though.

Maybe one day I'll organise a trip down to melbourne for a few days...maybe an after harvest party or something ;) That would be a good time to swap seeds and clones...
