If your doing standard dwc you need an airstone in the bucket.

If your doing RDWC you can get away without the airstones and just have a waterfall in your control bucket as long as you are exchanging enough water in the buckets to keep the dissolved oxygen up.

Most people put airstones in anyway just to be safe.

If your going for a proper undercurrent system you should have large piping and an oversized pump and water exchange and d/o levels shoukdbt be an issue with a good waterfall.

If your going undercurrent or dwc a water cooler is pretty much a must have in aus in my opinion

Yea RDWC sounds better although the root clogs would be a pita but using larger piping an that would minimize any root clog.. The water fall dwc would still create enough DO an not need airstones but more rooting around with buildin tgat type of system
You not sold on the idea of droppin frozen bottles of water into the res tank

Ive read that running a complete sterile system is allot easier i haven looked into systems that are using benies sounds more complicated.
Either way your set up looks neat as bloke. When im gettin ready to firing up indoors ill be all over the dwc forums but as its still only a pipe dream atm im only sussin all the different methods out there an gatherin plenty of info on hydroponics.
I used to run sterile and then tried beneficials and just found from personal experience that I got better results from not running sterile systems.

By the looks of it @2easy is the man to get straight answers from experience with RDWC.

Too hard to get the right temps and maintain them with frozen bottles. Ok at the end of a run for 24-48 hours to get res temps really low to induce EOL stress signal.

With a chiller they maintain temps, usually within 1 degree. I.e, set at 20C and when res temp hits 21C the chiller brings it back to 20C.....repeat.

So you would be using a mix of organic nutes? Would the micro life present in the system be wat causes the better results? I like the idea of sterile cause sounds like its more stable with less rootin round
