I see a lot of ppl using airstones so they can't be all that bad providing obviously u keep an clean
Yea most of the undercurrent ones ive seen run airstones in bucket an im sure if ya stay on top off it you woukd be able to keep the system clean enough from any bad bacteria but i can imagine running a big air pump would be loud as fuk unless properly insulated it but then run into problems cause its not gettin prper air flow an all that

Ok, that explains it. I was almost going to ask before where you were getting your soil from, or if you had a pest magnet around....BINGO, you found it.

I use the Tetra Whisper air pumps, can hardly hear them. Not the cheapest though.
Although I’ve not done DWC yet so not sure on the requirements.

I’ve not run into issues before using air pumps / stones. Maybe if you’re running full sterile [using H2O2 or similar] there’d be less need.

Yes, got the larger double outlet one for each res n run two large stones in each. I don’t run sterile, but use beneficials. Although all my incoming air is filtered.

No, I’m not top feeding atm, I did a top feed once to twice a week or so into the rockwool, in addition to the table floods until I knew there was a good root mass out of the blocks and into the clay balls in the net pots, and vigorous growth started, and then just flood now. I’m using the 10 inch current culture net pots. My blocks sit 1-2 cm above flood level.

Best to ask the guys that do DWC, that’s one I haven’t done yet.

Ive read that running a complete sterile system is allot easier i haven looked into systems that are using benies sounds more complicated.
Either way your set up looks neat as bloke. When im gettin ready to firing up indoors ill be all over the dwc forums but as its still only a pipe dream atm im only sussin all the different methods out there an gatherin plenty of info on hydroponics.

i'm planing to put the other half on top of another full water cube and make an outdoor hydro/aquaponics thing for next summer,

or just chillies or whatever its no major priority,

i just want to have better control of my rain water, or water in general, having it stored in different ways
