Sir420 here bongsmilie:blsmoke::bigjoint:.. I see plenty of post seeing ppl hit 14-16 oz in 2x4 space. But how tall are their canopies??? 8ft lol or 3ft??? If I can figure out how tall of a canopy they had , then I'll know exactly how much wattage to put in a given area to match that 2x4x? ..but stacked vertically I can put the exact amount of led & wattage in a given area & then stack em by having a DiY tube in the center of every vertical canopy ..

Use the SCROG method or an LST method to spread the branches outwards towards the sides and fill in as much of the grow area as possible. Grow them more outwards than upwards.

You don't want tall girls in a 2 x 4.

A scrog is probably a better option. But there's many ways to train plants that would work. I just put a cookie n chem her daughter an f2 in flower in a 2 x 4. They were about 45" tall, so I pretty much cut them in half down to 26" let them recover and flipped a few days ago. I may have to supercrop but hoping they stop stretching at around 50". I set a goal of 10 Oz when I decided to flower them like this, but I honestly think that's conservative. Here they are last night at day 3 from flip. I have a smaller dosidos in there, and if there's room for her she will flower too, if not I'll pull her. 20190316_230845.jpg
You can see some of the growth looks a little funky, that's because the now exposed tops were deep in the canopy where light didn't reach as well.

Week 7 in full 12/12 started today for both the Blue Cheese (left side) and Red Diesel (right side):

The Red Diesel (sativa dominant hybrid) stretched 19" above the net while the Blue Cheese (indica dominant hybrid) stretched to 24" above the net. I planned for a 24" stretch so I set the net 23" above the floor and maintained the lights at 10" - 12" above the canopy.

Maximizing your yields in a 2 x 4 is done by spreading those branches covering all four corners then flipping.

I m pretty close to 2 x 4. I use a homemade cob rig that pulls 500+ watts >50% efficiency. Its overkill but i hang it as high as possible and run a 10.5 / 13.5 sched. I use 7 or 10 gal smart pots. I can fit three pots, ive achieved 10z yields from single, best yielding plants.

I usually veg close to 8 weeks. I top and supercrop for canopy management.
In a very bright led grow keep a close eye on nutrition.3-30 cb1.jpg

Those timber rigs look great.

For those who care to see what you can pull out of a 2 x 4 … my two ladies (pictured above) came down this past weekend and as you can see, their remnants are resting comfortably in their jars.

What nutrient line do you use? Are you hydro, soil or coco? Very nice growing!

I know that when we initially chop, we're all thinking "I've got 6 million ounces" - then reality hits as they dry out. I am hoping for a bit more than 6 - 8 oz. but we'll see in 26 days. Each one of those jars can hold 2.25 oz. I'm not a fan of handling the actual bud too much during the harvesting and curing stages. The trichomes should stay on the sugar leaves and not my scales.

They lived in 20L (5 gallon) Home Depot plastic buckets with a roughly 50/50 mix of the Pro Mix HP and some black earth that I wanted to use up. Next time, straight Pro-Mix HP. I have read a few posts here on RIU that say Pro Mix HP and some good TLC will produce nice results. The marketing folks claim that there is sufficient levels of dolomitic and calcitic lime in Pro Mix HP to help buffer the pH. Now I realize those are marketing claims - is there anyone that can confirm that Pro Mix HP out of the bale buffers pH properly?

As for nutes - Fox Farm Grow Big for veg and Tiger Bloom for flower at 1/2 strength listed on their bottles - 1 tsp per Imperial gallon. I am almost out of the FF nutes so I am thinking of trying the Remo line when I do run out. Go with some local knowledge, as they say?

I tested this grow using water from a local spring. TDS showed 287 ( approx. 100 ppm each of calcium & magnesium with about 20 ppm each copper, iron, boron and sodium.) so with calcium and magnesium in the water, I went Cal/Mag less. pH measured pretty alkaline - 8.8. The FF nutes brought pH down to about 7.8. 1/2 tbsp. of plain white vinegar dropped the pH down to 6.8. They seemed to like that water.

Wow, you really know your stuff! I’m so impressed. You cover all the angles. I started using a new line of nutrients and I’m getting nutrient burn. I flushed her out but it’s still on the rise so I have a new ph pen coming in the mail tomorrow. I previously always used Flora NOVA Bloom and never had any problems at all and that nutrient has ph buffers. I know it’s not my water because I’m using distilled. I wanted to try a new line of nutrients because I didn’t feel I was getting enough flavor with Flora Nova bloom but maybe I should just go back after this grow. I don’t need this aggravation.

Put a dimmer on that light and run it at 300W. It will be even more efficient and you won't be wasting it on tent walls.
