im all for building the system yourself its cheaper and pretty simple

I get what Snakes is trying to say, and I have to admire the poster. He, like myself, is prolly anal when it comes to this type of stuff, and wants the most bang out of his buck (Like we all do, but some do not want to admit it). I know what almost everyone else did when they saw the 3K up there, for I did it myself until I re-read it a couple of times (Just waking up here with the first coffee and some dank NYC Sour Diesel). I wish I would have capped off at $500 and not spent what is amounting pretty close to $1400 as of this writing. It does add up fast shelling out a ten or twenty every day to get some part that one needs to make it operational.

The only thing that I can recommend Snakes is that you take your time, and read, and listen to what people are doing or saying. They have the knowledge, and for the most part, are willing to help you in the very best way that they can. Best of luck with your grow(s) and design(s).

That's why I'm hoping you could explain a bit more about what I'm not comprehending lokie? I admit I'm new to this and there is much I need to learn so if you could give me some advice or point me in the right direction then I'd love to hear it. I'm pretty sure you guys understand my situation and goals now, so what would you do if you were in my shoes?

I would take at least 20 or so hours and read some posts of interest in what you are trying to achieve for starters. Try to understand as much as possible, and jot down some notes as a reference to go back for a re-read. If you are close by to a Hydro shop, stop in and introduce yourself to them (They at one time, were in the same boat as you and I), and I have found out for the most part, they will steer you in the right direction. Those my friend, would be my starting blocks for the remainder of this week, including the weekend.

Bottom line is. YOU decide. You will spend more than you need to if YOU do not.

you dont want to be overwhelmed?? then dont start in hydro , the quality is not diffrent whats the beef with dirt it worked for thousands of years already?

my dirt gro is better quality than my neighbors hydro grow.. all said and done, i had my room for less than 2k WITH PLANTS AND ELECTRICITY FOR THE FIRST MONTH!!!

BUILD the box its like 15 screws and a roll of ducttape and some 2x2 's, money is not going to grow dank bro just trial and error, and doing it, not reading about it.. get it started its just a plant

just DOIT.. cause in 1 year i gurantee you, you will want to change it OR SOMETHING ABOUT IT and make it diffrent to see what works betteR for YOU

you could do 2zips a month with a 250w....

If you dont have much experience then go 400.
A monkey could yield 2 zips a month with a 400w hps

Since yield isn't your concern, make sure you get bulbs high in UVB. MH's have more UVB than HPS but they don't yield as well. The plants respond to it quite a bit. Tanning lamps and reptile lights work too in conjunction with say an HPS.
