All CFL Grow - Stealth

Hi Guys

Must say I feel better now having read some of GardenKown's posts. I was very sad a few days ago....

Why????

Well I have this project that is a stealth Cab, basicly a flat packed wardrobe that I was going to use to veg under CFLs first and then put a 250 watt HPS in there and getting a second cab for my mothers and to veg.

So I have a problem where it will not be possible for me to have a second cab and I have a landlord that comes around every other day so stealth is so important for me.

OK so the plan is now to devide my current setup in two. I will have the top half of the cab for flower and the bottom half for veg. Because of the size being so small a HPS will never work as it will be too hot, way too hot! So I was sad because I thought I will have a shit harvest.

Now that I have see what is possible under CFLS I will improve what I have and make it the best damn CFL grow ever! Best one I have done anyway :-)

This is my setup now. Looking forward to input and advice, and yes I know, more CFL's all around the plants 1 inch away from the leaves. lol :-) Peace all.

Current setup

2 X 105 watt Cfl's
1 X box fan
4 X 120 mm air vents (120mm pc fan's on the way )
1 X heat pad
1 X timer for heat pad
1 X timer for lights, hooked up via a relay switch
Cab is lined with Panda film.
2 X plants in peaty pearlite miox medium
1 X plant in soil, pearlite mix

Please feel free to comment and to make suggestions, this is a work in progress and I will keep updating as I go.

Peace :peace: :hump:

My current lights are 6500k, the smaller ones I will be getting I think is 2700k, does this make a difference?

Cfls are awesome..i usually get 1-3 ounces dry per plant on a 2.5 foot plant(but an avg of 2 oz) And a 20-30 increase in elec! I would add a couple 5000k to the 6500k set up, i grew with both and noticed a major difference

use the all 2700s for flowering

and fyi.... When i flower i have 15 23w 2700k bulbs going.... In vegg i have about half that

This is cool advice, so the the 6500k's and 5000ks is for veg and 2700k's is flower, awsome info thanks. I was not sure. The amounts you get per plant is amazing, I dont think I got that much when I growing under a 400w HPS in a room. This makes me real hopefull.

:-) It does suck, I think we have been living here for about 9 weeks and he has been here at least once per week on 6 occasions. The outside of the cab is a bit of a secret. :-) I am slightly paranoid but maybe soon. :-)

Yeah put like4-6 on top and the rest on the sides, rotate daily
Yea that makes sense, I see now that more smaller bulbs spread around is better for CFL than bigger fewer cfl's. I will build this into my grow plan. Man I am so lucky that I have two 6500k's in there for veg. I honestly just got lucky, but with the knowledge I have now I will better the setup.

Just a another question, I know people say you can't Veg under 2600k's but that is also suppose to be the case for HPS which is more for flower. Yet it is possible to veg under HPS, so I am thinking why would vegging under 2600k's not work.

Ok I did some research about bulbs I can get in this country.

The best ones I came up with is Phillips Tornado's 24 watt bulbs. They come in 6500k and 2700k and I plan to buy 8 X 24watt 6500k and 8 X 24 watt 2700k. This will give me about 12000 lumen for veg and another 12000 lumen for flower.

The trick will be make them go all around the plants and I am working on some ideas for that.

Do you guys think this will be enough for the space I have - see pics in first post and imagine the space has a shelf in the middle.

Ok now I am thinking I can only have 4 fittings in my veg and 4 fittings in my flower section. Obviously 4 X 24 watt in each section is not enough..... There is these other bulbs that are 48watt CFLs so 4 X 48 Watts will give me 12,000 lumen per section.

My question. These bulbs only come in 5000k (veg) and 3000k. Now I know I can veg under 5000k but how would 3000k work for flower?

Yeah also when the branches start getting big and it starts flowering trim the lower parts so the energy focuses on the upper buds, they cam double in size!
That's true. They are growing nice and fast now, have a slight issue with nitro deficiency as you can probably see but the newer leaves are looking good. The big one is showing loads of preflowers I mean like hairs all over, so hopefully it is a full female and not a hermie, but I am hopefull. First time I have had pre flowers on a plant grown from seed. I have had it before on plants that were cuttings from a oldish Mother. So I am really hoping that one is female because I need to clone :-) I have not smoked in 4 months! please please please be female :-)

This morning I am heading out to buy some more panda film and some tools to make cuttings. The top half of the cab will be for flowering and the bottom half for veg. All under CFL's

You need a couple of those shop light reflectors with the clamps or turn your bulbs on their sides or 45°.....yes you can use 3000k if that's all you can get,its also better to use a mixed spectrum ..........6-3000k and 2-5000k for flower and the reverse for veg.GL
