the root system will channel the water down and the dirt won't have time to absorb..slightly squeeze the sides all around and loosen the soil a little so the water can absorb evenly instead of being channled to the bottom or around the edges..

I've got the bottoms cut out of these 20 gal fryer oil jugs from work..they are 3 to 4 in high around the bottom of the pot so I water top and bottom...

Hot air into cold air equals condensation...just saying..keep an eye on your attic...
Ahhh..stella..such a different plant to grow..I can't wait for flowers...
i will keep an eye on my attic. you have the stella cut as well?
Or water from the bottom. At least once or twice.
so you literally flip the pot upside down and water the bottom? hmm...never heard of it but doesn't sound like too bad an idea.

these girls are really liking the nutrients. i snapped this picture last night before i went to bed so they've probably grown even more by now. i'll post an update to these pics before i go to sleep again tonight.

they've finally grown above the pots!

edit:
just making a note that i've heavily watered the plants about an hour ago. i use this thread to document everything i do to my plants so that's the reason for this.

No you have a small resivoir(see the jug bottoms) and fill it halfway or less(takes a little practice)with the runoff from top watering..what's left after complete drainage i usually toss..the roots in the bottom of the bucket thank you..
And yes,I have 4 stella cuts and 4 stella clones.

HAHAHAHAHA! No, you put the plant in a tray with water a few inches deep. The soil soaks it up from the bottom. You can even set up an auto watering system by cutting a hole in a plastic bottle. There's pics in my journal from when I did it in July. I'll look for a pic later but I'm pretty baked and my wife just got home.

oh my i'm sure you got quite the laugh outta' that lmao...that makes a lot more sense though. exactly what i did with my root plugs. filled a plastic tub with half an inch of water to let the root plugs wick up water from it. i just gave my girls more water than i ever have before so once they dry out i'll try putting some nutrient solution in the bottom as well as the top. you guys think i can amp it up to 50% nute solution next time and water the bottoms/tops? not over kill? they ate up the last nutrients pretty damn quick was surprised my pots were so light today.

i'm having a good laugh at myself now for considering flipping my pot upside down and watering the drainage holes lmfao. that'll be a nice story to have in 10 years when i reflect on my first grow!

oh, and i got some big news. i haven't been able to smoke in 2 and a half months. tomorrow is the final piss test and i am BURNING IT DOWN!:leaf:!

i cannot wait!! possibly won't make it to the computer tomorrow as my tolerance is gonna be lower than ever before. everybody's bringin' me fire oil and fire tree. tomorrow night will be a good one thas fo sho~

Its like riding a bike ccc..glad you can smoke now!! Don't choke!lol
I'm with duck, keep nutes low till they get a bit bigger and can use them...adding too much too quick is a fast train to salt buildup...

I'd stay at 25% until they look like they need more.
Enjoy smoking. 2.5 mos w/o sounds awful.
you think 2.5 mos sounds awful? try thinking for 2 months you can't smoke, then you get slapped with 4 more weeks of drug testing. THEN you get smacked with another week!

looks like i won't be burning till the 17th now...holy shit i am HEATED!!! with my luck i won't be smoking till i'm 30 fucking years old...whatever.

at-least i'll probably be able to smoke next week. some people aren't even fortunate enough to smoke at all. i still feel blessed but am mad nevertheless. guess i'll just keep growing and look forward to next week...thanks for the advice on nutes i will adhere to it. excited to try watering from the bottom and top this time.

Nice healthy color. How long do you count as seedling time out of curiousity? I've always just counted from germ.

i separate the plant's life into four stages: germination, seedling, vegetative, flowering

the germination stage ends and seedling stage begins once they emerge from the surface and form their cotyledons. like so:
11/25/13

the vegetative stage begins once they have formed 4 true leaves
12/02/13

flowering begins the day you switch your light schedule to 12/12.

there really isn't a right or wrong way to do it. this is just how i like to look at things.

Veg is from when they pop out of the medium until I flip them to 12/12 for me. Doesn't really much matter to though.

pots felt a little light again tonight so i decided to feed them another dose of nutrients @ 25%.

watered from the bottom this time too. only had like 300ml of nute water left so just gave half of that to each plant. would have mixed another batch but intend to bump it up to 50% strength next time. also figured i might as well not over do it with the bottom watering for my first time.
photo 1 (14).jpg

threw a bic lighter in there for side comparison. looks like my girls are around 3 and a half inches.
photo 2 (12).jpgphoto 3 (7).jpgphoto 4 (4).jpgphoto 5 (1).jpg

any guesses on how long it'll take to veg these girls out in 7 gallon pots? i'm starting to get a little concerned about the electricity costs after calculating them today. turns out my bill will be going up a tad more than i had expected..
