    Veg under HPS problems

Just in case anyone ever needs this for advice, I did move the HPS and put a MH in the veg room and everything is GREAT now!! That must have been the problem even though I don't know why because I read everywhere that plants can veg under HPS. But I guess mine can't, lol. I will stick to MH in...

When do I release my ladybugs?

I just found spider mites on my plants that are almost ready to be chopped so I don't want to use a bomb and I got ladybugs instead at the suggestions of several people. I have never used them before though and just don't know when to release them. I know when you release them outside you want...

    Veg under HPS problems

My veg room currently has 3 trays of plants in hydro. 2 of the 3 lights are MH and one is HPS, all 1000 watt. I move clones in under a MH and then as they grow they get separated out under either a MH or HPS bulb. The plants under the HPS lights look terrible. Plants that were once flourishing...

How much does the size of the exhaust hole matter?

Yeah, I am aware of the amp issue. I have been comparing AC amps with my current fans and I'm deffinitly going to need to get some more power from a different circuit. I wanted to try all these ideas but now it's gotten cooler so I'll have to wait until it gets hot again to try out the AC and/or...

How much does the size of the exhaust hole matter?

Thanks for all your responses so far... I could try evaporative cooling since I don't live in a very humid area. The temps get cool at night too, so maybe I wouldn't even need to be replacing the jugs in the middle of the night anyway since the air coming in would be around 60 F. The ballasts...

How much does the size of the exhaust hole matter?

I have thought about using AC, and I might, but I'm way too high on my power load for that circuit. Plus, I'm trying to keep the power bill down for money reasons and also not too look to conspicuous. But it might just come to that....

How much does the size of the exhaust hole matter?

I am on 18/6 in a 12' by 12' upstairs room. Recently I've been buying larger fans to accommodate the heat but I'm having problems with ducting/exhaust sizes. All my old fans have 4" openings for exhaust and I bought hoods with 4" exhaust holes. I've started been buying inline fans with higher...

Electrical Ques. If I can help someone I will...

I have heard that using 220v ballasts is more efficient than the 110v that American households typically support but I never got a good reason why. Do you think there is any truth to that?

What is the max amount of plants you would grow off of one 1000 hps?

I grow 5 large mature plants under each 1000 watt light I have. Sometimes more like 7 or 8 babies have to share one 1000, but as they grow I try to keep it less than 7. For a while I had 7 under each 1000 but they did much better when I moved them to groups of 5, which is the ideal for me.

    110V vs. 220V

In the past I have tried to buy all 220V ballasts because i heard that they are more efficient and cost less to run than their 110V counterparts. However, I recently ran across a great deal on some 110V lights and bought them even though everything's already wired for 220V power with NEMA 6-15...

Dreaded droopy leaves and brown spots

I had plants that looked like yours about a month ago in a room where the temps would get very hot, so we attributed the problem to heat stress of some sort (as opposed to a defficency of any kind) Other plants which were closer to the air flow looked fine. The group that looked brownish were...

    Glass Cleaning Frequency

I've tried Bling and 420, but I found this all-natural stuff called Citrus-solve that works really well, is cheaper and smells just like oranges. Lately I've just been using rubbing alcohol and dry rice and it works great if you dont want to buy expensive cleaners. I change my water about once a...

    drooping cos its cold

If they're in 12s, I'd just keep the light off one day when you'd usually have them on (9am to 9pm) and then turn the lights on that nite at 9pm. If you do 24 hours light when they're already in 12, it'll mess up their bud cycle. An extra 12 of dark won't be as bad. :blsmoke:

    drooping cos its cold

Ya I agree with chiceh. I keep the lights on all nite and have them off during the day (off 10am-10pm for the buds, 12 noon to 6pm for the veg). This way, the cool nights don't bring down the grow room temps and it stays warm enough when its dark. I'd do 24 of light before I switch unless...

    Weird smells

So about 9 days after cutting some early buds they already smell much better and are ready to be cured. You all were right and I just needed to be patient

    Cloning for Dumies!

What's holding the clones in the bucket lid, candiancowboy? And how do you get them out once they're ready to be planted? I would really like to try that system, heard only good things about it. My clones take a month (!!!!) in rockwool, but I think the problem is my partner's overhydration.....

    Weird smells

Lol, yes Tee, in the bathroom as in where the bath is. But we're not using it so there's no excess moisture. I am going to try doing a very slow cure and hopefully this will take care of my weird smell. I'll let you know how it goes...

    Weird smells

Thanks so much for your replies everyone! It smells like hay a little I suppose, but not really like fresh grass which is what I'd assumed they'd smell like because of the clorophyl. I'd say it smells mostly like hay mixed with a little chemicals, not really like mold (does moldy pot smell like...

    Weird smells

I will soon (tomorrow) be finished growing my first batch and have been drying small amounts to smoke while the majority finishes. It looks great and smells great on the plant, mostly red hairs and tons of ripe trichomes, totally sticky and stinky (in a good way). Problem is, the stuff smells...
