So when we're talking watts, is 400 watts of LED the same as 400 watts of HPS as far as light output? I apologize for being naive. Ive been doing MH/HPS for many, many years and have been ignorant of the LED thing but I'm thinking maybe its time to think about it

Both those strains stretch quite a bit but from the looks of things you should be ok. What is the plant height now and how much head space do you currently have?

Another thought Ive been considering is not taking the cuttings till a few weeks after flipping the mother. I realize the clone will have to spend time reverting back to veg stage, but I do need slow growth at this point anyway. Any thoughts on that idea?

I flip the light at about 24-30" in height which is what the mother plant is currently
