How much does aeroponics increase results?

I could see that helping if you were running the coco really wet or if it was too packed, poor drainage, non-breathable pot, etc. and not letting enough oxygen get to the roots.

Well water and ph rise issue

Exactly. The PH rise is due to the hardness of your water. Its a calcium hardness issue and quite common. My well water is less hard then yours and I still have to PH down for two to three days before it starts to stabilize. Yours might not stabilize for much longer, or at all because your...

Advanced aeroponics - or how to get fuzzy roots and be a happy grower

Good point. I should have mentioned that Im using an oil-less compressor - which is best. Many of the modern compresors are now oil-less. With an oil model you would need a filter.

HPA DIY first system question/ newbie

If its at all possible I would highly recommend doing DTW. You wont use any more nutes than you are now, and it will eliminate soooooo many potential problems that recirculating can - and almost always does - cause. DTW eliminates almost all PH drift problems. You might still get some if you...

HPA DIY first system question/ newbie

Interesting. I wonder of the weight of the bag was tipping the nozzle down - that might let it drain more water out of the tubing at the end of the run. The spreadsheet helps me visualize how changes in timing will effect the system. Thats not bad. You dont want your off times to be longer...

Advanced aeroponics - or how to get fuzzy roots and be a happy grower

Yes, pretty much any compressor will work, but there are a couple of things to consider. One is noise. If you are growing in your home, you may not want a noisy contractor compressor in the back room. There are a number of "quiet" compressors available that are actually not that obnoxious. I...

Advanced aeroponics - or how to get fuzzy roots and be a happy grower

Here is a spread sheet for calculating flow rates. I had to change the extension to PDF to get it to load. Just change the .PDF to .xlsx. I can do different formats if needed for other spreadsheet programs.

Gauging Misting Frequency or length through a grow?

I should have added one more thing - you can reduce the roots tendency to grow sideways towards nozzles by increasing the flow rate. Higher mist levels/cycling more often, etc will keep the roots wetter. When water droplets form on the tips, the root will try to grow "toward the water" - which...

Gauging Misting Frequency or length through a grow?

You will find the humidity is always right at 100%. It pretty much cant drop because you have all those wet roots and droplets floating around and on the walls, floor, etc. The humidity wont drop enough to measure until its way too late. I think if you do that the plants will just not grow as...

HPA DIY first system question/ newbie

Did you do that with the nozzles running on the timer or on the whole time? It will make a difference in the flow rate. Id suggest you set the timer for 0.75 seconds ON time and maybe 2 to 5 seconds OFF time. Then let it run for say 100 cycles and then do the math. That way you will be taking...

    Nft 424

I dont think you have any choice - but then you're not doing NFT. I would get rid of the rock wool completely. Use almost anything else - perlite, hydroton, rapid rooters, or fabric mat/batting. In NFT you dont need any medium unless you're using a tray setup and need help spreading out the...

Gauging Misting Frequency or length through a grow?

I currently grow AA aero - air atomized. I did HPA, LPA, and all sorts of other hydro options in the past. Anyway, I only do drain to waste, My root chamber is aprox 56 gallon fabric pot. Waste water is collected in a drain pan under the pot. In my most recent grow, I started out at an EC of...

Gauging Misting Frequency or length through a grow?

Its hard to tell with that odd lighting, but those roots look pretty good to me! Were they fuzzy or smooth? Im surprised they look that good based on your description of your system setup. Unfortunately there is no way that I know of to measure mist levels and use that data to automatically...

How do you feed aero plants based on PPM/EC?

What kind of aero - LPA, HPA or AA? Its hard to tell from those pics - turn off purple the light and use your flash - but it kind of looks like you have nute burn plus some sort of deficiency or excess going on. How do the roots look? Ive seen similar damage when roots were in bad shape.

Curling leaves? Pls help guys. Pic attached

Do you have another option other than the rock wool? That stuff holds too much water and the roots will get oxygen starved. Almost anything is better than rock wool.

    Nft 424

Normally its impossible to over water in hydro - unless you using rock wool. Technically, its not too much water - its too little oxygen that is the problem. Saturated rock wool doesnt let nearly enough O2 get to the roots. I personally think rock wool has no place in NFT. It holds too much...

HPA DIY first system question/ newbie

Sorry for the delay. Ive been under the weather. I use hot glue to stitch together pots for my chamber. Just a dab every few inches is all you need some times. Other times you need a long stretch to hold parts together. Its a fast way to tack fabric in place to itself or to other things. Ive...

HPA DIY first system question/ newbie

Looks like you are off to a good start! I have some questions but dont have time now. My only concern is if you left enough space between the fabric pots and the foam box. You ant good air circulation all the way around the chamber or you could get uneven cooling or places that stay...

Well all the warnings about growing aero were wrong.

    Without pics....it didnt happen... ;)
