    New House, New Water

Those pics dont look like excess calcium - at least based on a couple of web 'experts'. https://pevgrow.com/blog/en/lack-or-excess-calcium-in-the-marijuana-plant/ But, other sites say that excess calcium can cause lockouts of other nutes, so it could look like other things too - maybe? Im...

    Waterfall - enough bubbles?

Ah, ok. Thats a different situation than the OP was describing. He is talking about doing the water fall in the control bucket - no roots allowed and no blockages or restrictions to the flow. hmmmm on second read, maybe Im the one who misunderstood. I ASSumed the water fall would be in a...

    New 4x4 grow some advice?

Read through that World of Hempy thread above. All your questions about how to do it will be answered. You can get buckets at any hardware store, paint store, or building supply, etc. You can order perlite from Ebay or most any on-line garden supply, etc. For nutes Google Jacks321 hydro. I...

    New 4x4 grow some advice?

Hempy buckets are the simplest, most failure proof, reliable, lowest maintenance hydro system there is. By far. There are exactly zero parts to fail. No pumps, no pipes, no bulkheads, no valves, no timers. All you need is some buckets, with or without lids, and bags of perlite, and some hydro...

    Setup question

Id be wary of Mega Crop. It has lots of organic components and that can lead to explosive bacterial/algae growth. Hydro generally works much better using pure salt based nutes with zero organic components. By the way even the new Mega Crop has enzymes = organic components. Some people get away...

    New House, New Water

The new growth all looks good. Are you sure its not the result of a problem that is now resolved itself? As far as the mineral content - have you seen a water report that says whats in the water? if it really is calcium, then just lower than part of your nutes - or can you do that? For...

PPM level vs usage vs repleneshing

I can see your logic, but I think this is one of those things that sits the black arts category ;) You will just have to see what works for your specific situation. There are just too many variables when recirculating. Your water - how hard or soft it is, your nutes - organic vrs pure salts...

Advanced aeroponics - or how to get fuzzy roots and be a happy grower

Enough theory. Time for a root porn up-date. the roots are doing great. All three root masses are expanding fastest at the top - where the mist is thinnest - and are starting to merge together. They are also starting spread along the ceiling - following the water where it beads up on the top of...

    AIRY BUDS... WHY?

Your PH range is way too hi. Hydro needs to be in the 5.5-6 range. Maybe 6.1 max, but the average should be more like 5.8. I also agree it looks like you harvested too soon. You should get a macro lens for your phone or a USB scope or something that will let you get a close look at the trichs...

PPM level vs usage vs repleneshing

Ok, I think I get it. I dont think it matters where you start from. If the EC is dropping, something is off. Is the plant drinking - water level falling? What is the PH doing? LOL I havent heard the term Azote since highschool chem class - and I think it was archaic even then ;) Its my...

    Waterfall - enough bubbles?

I'm sorry, but I disagree with most of that.. Temp and DO are not directly related to water falls or any other type of aeration. The temp is what ever it is independent of aeration type. True that cold water holds more oxygen, but so what? if you dont aerate cold water the DO % will be lower...

    Waterfall - enough bubbles?

Water falls are a powerful form of aeration. If dome with enough circulation, at least as good as bubbles. The same for flumming. The key to understanding aeration is the fact that oxygen is slow to penetrate deep into a body of water. The very very thin top layer of any body of water will...

PPM level vs usage vs repleneshing

Are you talking about an automated system? Im also not sure what you mean by "an equivalent 150 PPM"? What exactly are you adding? In any case, there is no fixed or perfect PPM level. Every plant is different, and different types of hydro have different feed levels. For example, some types of...

Advanced aeroponics - or how to get fuzzy roots and be a happy grower

Parts list. Im only going to list things that are unique to aero. One of the most important things is the nozzles. These nozzles are not perfect, but they work and they are relatively inexpensive. Im using the Delavan 30609-8 burner nozzles. They run about $26 ea for the bare nozzle. You can...

    Transplant Problem please help

I think you will find the hydroguard useless. It works for some people as a prophylactic - if conditions are good to begin with. I have never seen it fix an established infection. Even heavy chlorine often times wont kill all the bacteria once it really gets established. Root rot is some bad ass...

@rkymtnman has it right. Flushing is 'stoner science' = myth.

Maintaining pH in reservoir with organic nutrients and drain-to-waste in coco

You may have some algae or other bacterial growth in the rez. That will drive the PH up. The more you have, the faster it goes up. By the way, adding chlorine raises the PH, so as leaves the water, the PH will go back down again - not up. Also, algae and bacteria just love organically based nutes.

    Feed tank problem

This is bad advice that makes no sense. If the nutes are UNmixed, then that white stuff would be there from the very beginning because they were UNmixed. Plus, you have the wrong understanding of what chelated means. It has nothing to do with solubility.

Advanced aeroponics - or how to get fuzzy roots and be a happy grower

Ok, lets talk some theory and how to translate that into hardware choices. This applies to HPA and AA. First I have to give most of the credit for this theory to a user named Atomizer. I don’t like him very much for reasons I wont go into here, but he really know his stuff as far as the science...

Advanced aeroponics - or how to get fuzzy roots and be a happy grower

I cant be 100% sure, but those look like HPA nozzles. I think they are what are called impact nozzles - like these: https://coldfog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/ASI-Nozzle-R-Series.jpg You need to check the specs carefully as many of those have very hi minimum operating pressures. That one...
