    new low pressure aeroponic system

Not interested in buying anything, but I am curious about the details. Not trying to be critical, just want to see if Im picturing this correctly: 1) you turn on the pump (on a timer I assume), and it runs water through some number of LPA sprayers inside the bucket? 2) Because there is only...

reservoir is getting muddy, Advanced Nutrients additives.

Nerdy technical nit pick here - any agitation, stirring, or movement of the water surface = aeration. You dont have to have bubbles to increase DO. In fact bubbles are one of the least effective ways to aerate. O2 dissolves in water in an odd way that many find counter intuitive. The top most...

reservoir is getting muddy, Advanced Nutrients additives.

I had horrible luck with AN. Too many organic components in AN line. That just feeds bio crap like crazy in hydro. What are your water temps in the rez and are you keeping light out - to include fittings, tubing etc? Sounds to me like you need to switch to pure salts.

    25# of Jack's 5-12-26 for $57 with free shipping

Thats one heck of a price for the Jacks!! If you're planning to use the Jacks in hydro, then you want to mix the Jacks with calcium nitrate and magnesium sulfate in a 321 ratio. 3 parts Jacks with 2 parts Calcium nitrate, and 1 part magnesium sulfate. This is by weight. BUT - you must mix...

    Nutrients sticking to roots :(

This. Using nutes with organic components is a bad idea in hydro. Bacteria/algae just love that crap and will grow like crazy. GH, or Jacks 321 hydro mix or the miracle grow stuff are all good pure salts and will reduce your bio problems to a large degree. As an added bonus, your PH control will...

When do you add nutes lucas formula in root riot?

I dont use rapid rooters, but I also began starting my seeds in my aero system with about 100PPM of PH'ed nutes. Seems to be working very well for me. I think it reduces any possible stress to have them start at the same level rather than have a sudden change at 1 week old. Plus, when seeds...

Maintaining pH in reservoir with organic nutrients and drain-to-waste in coco

Im not the right person to ask about additives, boosters, etc because I dont use any. Just Jacks from start to finish. The only thing I change durring a grow is the EC. I adjust up or down depending on how the plants look. Thats it. I am of the opinion that pretty much all that stuff is...

    Do we have bigger problems?

I have some more questions aand a rebuttal or three for you but Im fighting kidney stones and staying pretty heavily stoned, so all the perfect arguments flooting around in my head may not be as perfect as I thiink they are... just you wait though...;) That IS some nasty looking stuff. Why in...

Stainless Steel Wort Chiller, safe for hydroponics?

Dont use copper. Stick with stainless.

    Nft 424

Where in the world did you get this misguided obsession with flow rates and root rot? Flow rates have exactly nothing to do with root rot. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Nothing at all. You also have a major misunderstanding about NFT systems. The 'F' is NFT stands for film, NOT flood. When done...

Advanced aeroponics - or how to get fuzzy roots and be a happy grower

Well crap, darn, damn, dang, shoot, etc etc. One of my girls isnt! So this brings up the question of how to handle this kind of thing - culling an unwanted male - in a hydro setup where you have several plants with their roots all mixed together in the same container, or in my case a root...

    Do we have bigger problems?

Im too stoned to give that post the response it deserves at the moment, and laughing too hard....... those hairy knees and the shoes! Love it! LOL

Did i buy the wrong RO filter? (Water2buy)

Your RO filter should have a carbon filter - which will remove any chlorine. If your water has a ton of chlorine, you may have to replace the filter more often, but most do not have enough to cause that big a deal. RO filters dont work well if the source pressure is too low. The flow rate will...

    Week 6 hydro White mold.

It can also be very hard to detect early on. Sometimes the only warning you have is maybe a single sugar leaf on a bud looking a bit off. Then you pry it open and find that crap deep inside. Ive only lost one plant to PM, but it really sucked. I usually have just the opposite problem of too...

    Do we have bigger problems?

Good discussion. Im glad we are able to keep it civil. Thats not always possible on the 'net! No, I have not used that particular nute, so point to you :) We have each presented our 'evidence', but without lab testing neither of us can really prove anything. Im not going to argue further, but...

    Do we have bigger problems?

This we agree on :) I preffer using chlorine for cost reasons, but H2O2 works fine too.

    Do we have bigger problems?

I dont see how the nutes could get caked up anywhere unless you didnt mix then in the beginning. Plus, you would have to be running at extremely hi concentrations. Like insanely high. If you mix some combinations of mineral nutes in the wrong order, you can get a precipitate, but its white, not...

    Aerate water for soil feeds

I gave up on soil several years ago, and only grow using aeroponics now, but even back then I did not need to leave my water sit. My water comes from a community well and has no chlorine in it. Other than having moderately high calcium hardness (makes PH control a littler more difficult) my...

    Week 6 hydro White mold.

Dont freak yet! Its hard to tell from those pics...are you sure thats mold and not white fuzzy hairs? Can you get a clearer picture - close up maybe with a macr lens or USB scope? These are fuzzy hairs on roots. they are a GOOD thing. If you do have white mold, thats very unusual on roots...
