I don't always add more light but when I do I bump it at least by 100w per light addition. The older the stoner, the more likely you'll run all your shit.... My grow area isn't in a basement but I exhaust into a hot water flue...controlled by temp/hum ac infinity T4...filtered passive intake until temps activate inkbird controlled intake fan for outside makeup. A properly setup fan system can nullify most problems.

Plant seed in medium at right temp/moisture. Nothing else needed. No paper towels, soaking, chanting to the eastern winds......More rocket science/bro shit is just that. Personally, I never touch a seed and never abrade it in any way. You ever see a farmer soaking or 'sanding' his seeds?

Sand does not hold water. It's used for drainage and I'd think there'd be a limit to it usefulness as measured drainage is important. Personally, I pay for the engineering of the mediums I use and use it as I buy it. Amending mediums may be fun but it can be a pandora's box.
