    Help

Killing the plant would be jumping the gun. My kneejerk reaction is it looks burned, so probably an over-feeding issue. But I grow in soil and there are others who will surely chime in with more specific advice. I just wanted to say don’t give up on the plant because it can still recover.

    Hermaphrodite what to do?

It seems to be a combination of that and just stretching for the light. With all due respect to the OP, start some more seeds when you get better lights. You’ll be able to pull a few joints from this one but don’t set your expectations high. Sorry if I come off like a dick but I don’t think...

    Hermaphrodite what to do?

Hurry with those lights because you’re losing yield each day with weak light.

    Hermaphrodite what to do?

Nope, the abundance of pistils (white hairs) and calyxes indicates this is also a female. However, I think the weird growth pattern you’re seeing may be due to insufficient light. It looks super stretched out like it’s desperately searching for light. Please note the appearance of my male...

    Hermaphrodite what to do?

If they were male you’d see the beginnings of petals, which I don’t see here. It is odd how far the calyxes stick out but that may just be a particularity of this genetic mix. The pistils are brown because they’re no longer viable, that’s not a sign of a male, either. See how you can see...

    Purple stems!

I can’t entirely disagree yet I think it has more to do with acclimating the plant to the conditions. In my part of Oregon we drop down to 60 F or even lower at night, even at the height of summer. The plants don’t seem to mind, but when they’re outdoor, that’s all they know. I would agree that...

    Purple stems!

Don’t worry about it. If the plant is stunted or sick, you will notice. Young stems especially are sometimes purple, it’s not a big deal.

    Hermaphrodite what to do?

I see no balls, only calyxes. I think folks have been avoiding male flowers so long that they don’t remember what they look like anymore. These are male flowers: The shape is quite distinguishable from a calyx, as they look a lot more like the traditional flowers we see on other plants.

    Hermaphrodite what to do?

That’s not a hermaphrodite. You’ve been led astray. Don’t waste a perfectly good plant.

My feeling is it will hold up well for another month or so. It’s got that type of bud structure that I’ve noticed in my plants that seem to resist bud rot. The ones that get it the most seem to be the really big-ass colas as thick as baseball bats. I still love those, tho!

    Spider mites in flower!

But you can still smoke the nugs without tasting Dr. Zyme’s juice?

    Spider mites in flower!

It turned out fine. I just kept vacuuming them off until it was time to harvest. Kind of a pain in the ass but the bud turned out OK. Made sure none were left when I trimmed. Didn’t really seem like they went deep into the flower, mostly stuck to the leaves.

    raccoons!

That’s crazy — I’ve got raccoons all over the place but they haven’t come after my weed... yet. Probably cuz I got 6 dogs. So they just dig through the roots looking for fish?

    Drying Error / Please Help

I’ve produced some hay smelling weed and it doesn’t have the wow factor when folks smell it but it’s just as potent. I can’t tell you what to do for the best cure because I have trouble with that myself, but just know that the hay smell doesn’t affect potency. I’ve gotten ripped off my hay...

I want to make clones! :)

Your plants look nice but I’d hold off on the harvest — you gotta figure your volume will decrease by about 50 percent when they dry. What looks like a nice fat bud will look disappointing when dry oftentimes. (I’ve learned this firsthand.) As for taking clones, I have heard it’s tougher if not...

Be careful to inspect where the fan leaves and bigger sugar leaves look sickly. It seems like that’s often the first sign of rot in the bud.

    Ash and budrot?

Wow that is badass thank you so much! That is such a wonderfully articulate and well explained answer that I am basically in awe. I have argued with the admins of RIU about some shit but there is definitely a reservoir of expertise here. With such thoughtful help on cannabis production, I...

    Ash and budrot?

That’s very helpful but could you elaborate a little bit? Is there something particular to the potassium or sodium carbonate/hydroxide that would make the flower susceptible to bud rot?
