    Newbie wants to clone

To be blunt, unless you’re going to be inviting cops or state inspectors to admire your grow operation, just do whatever is convenient. I realize people want to stick to the letter of the law but oftentimes lawmakers set arbitrary limits just to keep things from getting out of control. Nobody...

    Winnow/thresh seed from weed?

Ok I will try that, though perhaps I have more chaff than what you’re used to. I basically crumbled up dry colas, so I’ve got a bunch of chunks of bud amid the seeds and finer biomass. Do you think your method will work in this situation as well?

Banana pods in 4th week of flower

LOL, I hate killing plants so I’m not objective. I had a plant earlier this year that was a true hermaphrodite — these weren’t nanners sticking out of a female bud, they were straight up male flowers growing from a node. I plucked them off and kept a close eye on the plant, but no other male...

    Winnow/thresh seed from weed?

Any thoughts on an efficient way to winnow or thresh the seeds out of dried colas? Without wasting the seed or the weed? Most of the advice on regular seed winnowing and threshing assumes the chaff is worthless — obviously not the case here!

    First harvest for me

    Looking good!

Banana pods in 4th week of flower

My gut reaction is to keep an eye on them for now but I could be going out on a limb and it’s not my grow on the line. It is weird, though, that you have them on multiple plants unless there’s a light leak or other light disruption. Anything come to mind like power outages?

    First orange hairs

Looks very good, orange hairs mean calyxes (bubbly parts of the bud) will be fattening up. Good job but not time to think of harvest yet. Wait until all the hairs are orange and the buds are really swollen, like they’re gonna burst. Keep in mind flower loses a tremendous amount of volume when...

    daylight savings time?

Right — bottom line is don’t change the real-life time when they are exposed to light or darkness.

    daylight savings time?

Unless you got some kind of fancy digital timer that automatically changes times, just leave it as it is.

    FORCED HARVEST.. OKLAHOMA FREEZE

I’m in Oregon and it got down to 26 F last night but my plant was OK in the hoophouse. I plan to keep one or two colas on the plant just to see how low it can go before it kills the plant.

    Grow

It’s gotta be an auto right? Or a plant that got severely stunted and managed to flower somehow.

    Grow

Sounds like a lot of work for one bong rip, but I am sure it will be a memorable one.

    Fully enclosing hoophouse?

Despite the bud rot problems, I have to say outdoor is still the way to go. Here is my harvest nearly half done, maybe 3/7. It’s still a lot of weed the sun has provided me with minimal effort. Bud rot is a matter of looking at glass half full or empty. It seems like a big loss because you...

Is my micro-grow ready for some mainlining or fim/topping?

I’m not sure but keep us updated — microgrows are always fun to see.

    Fully enclosing hoophouse?

Yeah I mistakenly thought the cover would solve most of my problems but no such luck. I have identified a couple cultivars that seem pretty resistant, though, so I will be breeding more with those. I figure I will try closing up the sides loosely then next year and see if it helps any. Moving...

    Fully enclosing hoophouse?

So I’ve got a hoophouse that I built this year to avoid rain on the flowers but they got bud rot anyway due to the moisture in the air. I left the sides of the hoophouse open to improve air circulation but that obviously didn’t do shit to help. Next year, should I totally cover all sides...

    Light burn on seedling?

I usually don’t feed seedlings that young but you’re growing in coco, so maybe that’s necessary, I dunno. It looks OKish overall but the color is slightly off. Seems like growing in coco often results in problems, since it’s tough to get it all dialed in perfectly. That’s why I never use the stuff.

    Help

You are overwatering. Do not water every day, especially if you have a heavy hand. Water only when the soil has dried but before the plant begins wilting.

    Leaves still getting burn spots

Your plant is fine, looks healthy. I get shit like that all the time and it doesn’t amount to anything. Basically like a plant pimple or blemish. Most likely you are getting some minor splashback when feeding nutes or even watering. A bit of fertilizer or soil on a leaf may prove slightly...
