I know this is an old post, but would you please clarify if this is an elemental ppm or an ec meter on the 500 scale? My limited experience tells me that's not elemental ppm?

I can't agree with this. @Renfro posted he runs 1200-1250 ppm for his heavy feed. Dtw cocoThats an EC of 2.4.

My understanding of a RDWC is limited. Don't the top 2-3 inches of pebbles stay dry?

You are using clay pebbles, in an ebb and flow? If the top of the pots stays dry, could you sprinkle "food grade" diatomaceous earth on top to kill adults entering the root zone or larva emerging?
