    Anyone using inline carbon filters?

I remember seeing an article or post about building a box around a regular carbon filter so that the intake on the filter sticks out of the box with ducting coming out of the other end of the box to exhaust the scrubbed air. Seemed like an easy diy project. A box with a hole on one side for...

    The Water Thread

I don't think it is necessary but it helps with ph. And is supposed to have other benefits.

    The Water Thread

Our situation is similar to yours. We get our water from a well. 850 ppm or so direct from the well. We have a softener and an RO filter. So of the three kinds of water we have, we use the RO water. I've tried mixing in a bit of well water to get some of the minerally goodness but I...

Will removing these 2 bottom damaged triple leaves off send more energy to the top?

I just pinch them off with my fingers and am not too concerned about leaving a little stem attached.

Will removing these 2 bottom damaged triple leaves off send more energy to the top?

Those leave don't look they are doing much at this point but the plant needs leaves for photosynthesis which is what causes them to grow. Defoliation is a common tool, especially indoors to improve light penetration and air flow, but can be overdone especially if you assume that more rather...

MaxiBloom Feed Chart Recommendations do not match application?

I do use RO water and my initial mix is always too acidic but it does drift upward after the mix. Usually my initial mix results in a ph of about 4.8.

MaxiBloom Feed Chart Recommendations do not match application?

It doesn't take hours to mix. Just a hand stir a couple of times. Dissolves on its own after that.

MaxiBloom Feed Chart Recommendations do not match application?

I usually initially ph to a number lower than what I want because my ph drifts upward for a while with MaxiBloom. My targets are 5.8 to 6.3. I usually ph to 5.6 in the res and then check and adjust as needed before using that mix for the first time.

MaxiBloom Feed Chart Recommendations do not match application?

I have not had the same problem with getting MaxiBloom to dissolve that others have described. I think that is because I don't try to mix it so strongly concentrated. More water, less concentrated and it dissolves with minimal stirring.

MaxiBloom Feed Chart Recommendations do not match application?

I stir in two large scoops of MaxiBloom to five gallons of water several hours or the day before I need it. Takes a few hours to dissolve fully. Then I mix that with RO water in the res to get to final ec.

Week 6 do I stop feeding

I would suggest that you not stop feeding until harvest. "Final flush" used to be a thing but in my opinion, feeding until harvest is the way to make sure your plants are properly growing right up until the end.

    How are things looking?

I will be interested to see how flowering outdoors in Minnesota goes. Cold and long daylight hours could be a challenge with photoperiod plants in the fall. It might be possible to use tarps over a greenhouse to reduce the hours of daylight they get to induce flowering earlier than regular...

When to start flushing? Just starting week 8 since flipping to 12/12

An unwritten rule of RIU is that all yield questions get the response "bout a pound" or "about a pound". Often later responses are even more silly but still funny, IMO. Hard to guess yield so bout a pound is as good as any guess. Seriously, though, let it go a while yet. Don't try to guess...

    TRUMP CONVICTED

The only appropriate response by intelligence agencies is to assume that all of that information is in the hands of our enemies. We have spies who are now at risk. A huge cost to intelligence gathering and a huge financial cost to taxpayers.

    TRUMP CONVICTED

I agree with this sentiment and have often said that Trump's final defense will be that he is not a criminal. He is just an idiot. Intent is almost always important in determining whether a crime was committed and how severely should that crime be punished. The more calculated, the more...

Reservoir keeps draining after pump is off

Sounds like the water level in your res is higher than the discharge points creating a siphon. Bakersfield's solution is a good one. If you poke a small hole in the hose coming out of the res, air will suck back into the hose when the pump shuts off breaking the siphon. The hole should be...

    ph meter for testing water?

Apera ph20 works for me and is a popular choice whenever this question comes up. Easy to use and accurate. Mine came in a case with calibration solution and storage solution. Whether someone needs that kind of accuracy or ease of use probably depends on their medium, nutrients, and...

Tent size i may have messed up help

You can shorten your wire hangers and move your drivers outside of the tent to allow you to raise your light more when you need it. I've even zip tied my lights to the top bars to get lights right up to the top. And a scrog net will allow you to train your plants to grow horizontally during...

    What to use for vegging??

GH Maxibloom start to finish is what I use in coco. Comes in powder form so you aren't buying and shipping water. Works for veg and bloom. Easy, inexpensive. Good results. You can reuse coco. I break it apart. Throw out the root balls. Rake out the smaller roots with a hand rake. And...
