    Help please

Do you really think CFLs make any noise of consequence? I've never had nor seen a CFL that made any noticeable noise at all. My 600w HPS ballast hums slightly, but I can only hear it if I'm standing right next to it and it's otherwise completely silent. Also, I object to just saying CFLs have...

What I learned from my first grow. Time for #2! (Pics included!)

Yes they do - that's why he might have to work (i.e. raise up the indicas) once the sativas have outgrown them. Otherwise the indicas will stretch once the light has to be raised in accommodation for taller-growing sativas... That's likely going to be a problem is he's using a screen like in the...

Damn monkeys. Always rubbing their superior intelligence in our faces. =(

What I learned from my first grow. Time for #2! (Pics included!)

Congrats on finishing your first grow - have you sampled some? Only thing that jumped out to me is that you might have to work a bit with keeping the indicas from stretching for the light once the sativas take off and get tall.

    Marijuana Tissue Culture Success!

Here's a better idea for people that might be interested in tissue culturing at home but would rather not buy from such sketchy-wanna-be-B.S.-artists-trying-to-pass-themselves-off-as-some-sort-of-illiterate-scientists-in-order-to-bypass-forum-rules-against-advertising...

If you are going to need a carbon filter, you are going to want an inline fan. I wouldn't ever flower plants without a carbon filter (even if in a legal state). That smell permeates everything. For $150, you could probably find a used inline+filter. That would also allow you to already be setup...

Why 12/12 instead of 11/13, 13/11 or 14/10 for flowering?

Read my second paragraph above. Plants that grow in non-equatorial regions have to begin flowering sooner than the autumnal equinox. The further the plants are from the equator, the more time they need to finish reproducing. Cut and paste: Although the word equinox is often understood to mean...

Why 12/12 instead of 11/13, 13/11 or 14/10 for flowering?

13 light/12 dark would probably work since it's close to a 24 hour cycle. But the further outside of a 24 hour cycle you go (don't forget plants operate on circadian rhythms just like animals or even more-so than animals), the more likely you are to mess up hormone production. Because, if...

Why 12/12 instead of 11/13, 13/11 or 14/10 for flowering?

The 12 hour split comes from wild cannabis needing to flower and produce seed before winter arrives. During the spring and summer, the days are lengthening and nights shortening so the plants just grow in size and mature under ideal conditions. Then the summer solstice occurs and the nights...

    newb question

It's the equinox (autumnal) - when night and day is roughly the same in length. That's when you get the 12'ish hours of darkness that induce flowering.

150 watt hps or 125-200 watt CFL?

Idealy, I'd get a 150w HPS with a remote ballast if heat in a small space is a concern. In addition, you can get a 150w HPS -> MH conversion bulb to use during veg.

    Marijuana Tissue Culture Success!

Ok Mr. "Doctor" "CEO" and "President" of a company that doesn't exist outside of some links cyberspace. I'm surprised you had time to make another meaningless promise in a response here again. You know, because I'm sure all those meetings with your "shareholders" and "CFO's" take up so much...

Long term Storage of Mothers/Clones? How do I save these Genetics?

I think I get what you mean but I was just talking about self-pollinating a single female plant through colloidal silver application (which would leave her seeds as P1). Not about cross-breeding and back-crossing multiple plants. If you want to preserve just the genetics of a mother plant for...

Light Stayed on for 2 Hours Longer 8 Weeks Into Flower ( problem ? )

Not completely dumb, you are half right. It does take 12 hours of darkness for flowering hormones to build up to a level that induces and maintains flowering. But plants have circadian rhythms, just like animals, that is genetically inherited and set for 24 hour cycles. If taken out of the...

Long term Storage of Mothers/Clones? How do I save these Genetics?

Have you looked into using colloidal silver application to self-pollinate her for some seeds? It's easy and inexpensive enough to do at home and small-scale.

    Leaves starting to roll down

No I don't think over-watering is the issue with your current schedule. Just to be clear: I meant that you may be currently under-watering (now that the plant has grown in size)... and if it were my plant I'd start by over-watering for just a few days (at most) just to see if that's the case...

    Leaves starting to roll down

Maybe it would be over-watering. But watering from the bottom up for just a few days in a row wouldn't hurt her and would rule that out. It can be surprising how much water they can use when they start to get big. I've had single plants consume over a gallon a day from DWC reservoirs... in any...

    Leaves starting to roll down

If it were me, I'd start by increasing the watering schedule for a few days in a row (shouldn't cause any harm) - if that's the issue you should see a pretty rapid improvement. Ideally I'd try watering from the bottom for a few days straight, if you can find a container to temporarily set the...

    Leaves starting to roll down

Just throwing this out there in the absence of a lot of information... but what is your watering situation like? The drooping looks a lot like under-watering (wilting) to me. And it's hard to tell from the pictures but the pot looks shallow and the soil mix looks airy. (not a bad thing but could...
