is there really any difference between air stones? cheaper ones vs more expensive ones? im gonna be growing in a 18 gallon tote. i have the 10" strips from wal-mart. what are your thoughts on stones?

Ok so now that ive been learning how DWC works, it would be kinda point less to use coco, it reality the plant is just being held in place by what ever is used in the net pot. its being fed by the water and its nutes not the clay pebbles or coco or what ever. right?
