your wrong... switchable ballast means that you can run both MH and HPS bulbs of the wattage of your ballast. (400watt ballast will run a 400watt MH or 400wattHPS).

that makes sense...there is probably a reservoir that holds the excess water. its "Self Watering" because the runoff water is collected in the reservoir and when the soil is dry it pulls the water out of the reservoir and into the soil. I have a few pots like that, just be sure not to over water...

i had a similar problem with my ladies.... found out that i was over-watering them and the roots developed root rot.... thankfully i caught it soon enough to save them. so in short: how often are you watering those beasts? and whats the temp/ph in the room?
