Why all the arguments over LED vs HPS ?

For the OP, just speaking from my experience.. I'm using the Advanced LED XTE 300. Max power draws 270w from the wall, but because I'm still a noob at growing, my current plants have been sitting under less than half power (125w). The XML lights look even nicer. It was certainly overpriced...

    Start seedling directly in hydroton?

I randomly have done this, not for any good reason bongsmilie I ran into one issue and it was only because I was handwatering to start: I had to be careful with the pebbles shifting when I was handwatering as well as when i finally got around to slipping in feedtubes. No big issue, but at one...

    Worried about my little autos

I also have always pruned in the past, but I was also curious to see how a plant goes out naturally. This is also my first time growing autos edit: sorry, I'm stoned already, and my word of the day seems to be "also"

    Worried about my little autos

Ah yes, I agree completely! I'll only be doing one or two plants in this tote moving forward. I suspected it'd be a problem, but I went ahead and did it anyway. These are not excuses, but hopefully explanations: I had gotten 3 free auto seeds and wanted to pop all of them; I'm terrible with...

    Worried about my little autos

Hi all, got (yet) another question/issue.. Flowers have begun filling in for the past week or so now, and the leaves are still wayy too green; I feel like they've been too green (too much N?) this entire time. I've since started diluting the nute level because idk what else to do.. peak...

    lucas question

This is news to me. Thank you. I feel like I could search and read endlessly, but little nuggets of info like this are so helpful - and hard to come by. Glad I asked, sorry for the threadjack!

    lucas question

Yeah, using GH Micro and Bloom. 6-12 Is about as high as I got with my photoperiod plant last time Edit: ..before I started overfeeding

    lucas question

I understand that the ratio is micro-bloom 1-2, but everywhere I've read, Lucas is generally understood as using 8-16. From my limited experience, everytime I get close to that high of a level for feeding, my plants don't like it and start showing signs of burn Was jw if there was any simple...

    lucas question

Is there a reason why I have trouble reaching feeding Lucas formula at full strength? Ppms hold steady when I'm only at 0-4-8. Currently on week 9 from sprout for autoflowers. My last plant, which was my first hydro attempt, was overfed from feeding 8-16 For 1.5 weeks

    Help buying LED

This is perfect! Just started watching it, but now you've got me curious as well.. Just never really minded unnecessarily splurging on growing, I don't spend on myself - except when it comes to mary jane! But I realize that a lot's changed and improved with LEDs even in the last 5 years, when...

    Help buying LED

Always been interested, too! But as soon as I start reading a DIY guide, it seems too daunting without some in-person help/guidance (for me, ofc).

    Help buying LED

In any case, the advice holds true for all pre-built lights - most, if not all, are overpriced, and especially so because the actual power draw is less than how most models are named; try to know what you're buying before you pull the trigger! Side note, I would recommend a killawatt meter if...

    Help buying LED

Have you used a killawatt to check? I don't mean anything by it, no offense, but I do believe that's what I was getting from my p300, 180w with bloom and veg switches on. They might just be cleverly wording it to omit the fact that veg + bloom = 180w

    Help buying LED

I agree! The P300 is what I had, and ime I started getting rock hard nugs after I got my shit together - the light certainly can perform. I think the important thing is to know what you're getting. For example, I recall the p300 really only drawing 180w

    Help buying LED

FWIW, I am also using Advanced LED, and I must say getting it is the only thing I haven't had to second-guess. Def overpriced with diy in mind, but it was worth it to me - to be lazy and to not learn how to build a light haha. Great warranty and customer supp, too. I've used Platinum (Chinese...

Topping off the DWC. Using nutrient mix or fresh pH water only

It's definitely worth trying it out, to top up with nute water, if only to be able to put off changing the res an extra week. That being said, I am now sticking with plain water for now (only on my 2nd dwc grow). Seems to me topping up with plain water is more beginner-friendly - just need more...

    Worried about my little autos

Hahaha this concern is why I posted the thread in the first place.. Just wanted to be sure they weren't just going to stop prematurely and flower w.e is there. I don't mind the slower growth - the roots are getting that much bigger!
