    Question about hydroguard and similar

Good to know it's not just me! From your experience, this kind of gunk is okay? My guess was that it was from the bennies, too. I had seen light "slime" buildup in my res before, but it was more on the lines and walls, and def not as gunky and phlegmy as this backup res was. I'm using...

    Question about hydroguard and similar

Good call, going to be more careful about mixing only what I need. In your case, was it sitting in a bottle or being aerated? Also a little curious about what it was, but at any rate, I can just avoid it completely ha

    Question about hydroguard and similar

Hi all, Wanna first say how helpful RIU has been - thank you all. Topping up my DWC res last week, I had mixed extra nutes, so I put an extra 2 gallons aside in a 5gal bucket. I had a pair of air stones going in it. Today, I went to pour this water into the res, and I noticed a gunky/slimy...

    Input on roots in DWC

I have a cheap aquarium thermometer in my bucket, and it has been between 70-72f this entire grow. Bought a larger air pump (about twice the output of my old one, which crapped out on me), and the plant seemed to have responded to the change overnight - leaves were perked and pointing upwards...

    Input on roots in DWC

I ordered another air pump a few days ago because i was thinking the same thing. It's a 15 lpm pump, should be good even for a larger 27 gal tote i have. Also using hydroguard already, i figured i could use the help since i dont have a res chiller

    Input on roots in DWC

Thanks guys, good to know I can just hang tight for now. My water's prob a little lighter than ginger ale if that helps lol. It gets that way when I mix nutes, using General Hydroponics. Is the twisting up of the roots something to worry about or keep an eye on?

    Input on roots in DWC

Hi all, Noob here asking for thoughts on root health. I think I have a general sense of what to expect from healthy and unhealthy roots, but I'm not sure if the roots on my current plant in DWC is doing okay. No slime on roots, and water smells like it usually does when i mix fresh nutes...

Bubbleponics/DWC top fed seedling issue HELP

I personally stopped top feeding after raising the water level so the bubbles could reach the bottom of the netpot. Since then, roots have touched the water and the growth has taken off. Didn't seem like hand watering was necessary

    pH monitoring and nutrients help

If it's helpful at all, for me, ph6.4 water at 600 ppm nute solution is lowered to 5.6 with 1ml of GH pH down. Im using a 5gal too (1st attempt at hydro, so all i got is my limited experience), and it seems like, at this low of a ppm, i need to adjust ph like 2 or 3 days in a row after changing...

Mixing nutes in high-pH tap water

Hm, thanks for pointing out that i should take the actual acid into consideration.. in your experience, is it something that i should adjust for? I was in a 20gal tote, but moved back to a 5gal for now. I think I'll adjust pH first, as it seems like there's also no harm in adjusting first...

if you know rockwool i have ?s

I recently planted half a dozen seeds in rw, after soaking in a shot glass for 12 hours (until they sank). Broke the surface 2-4 days after planting

Mixing nutes in high-pH tap water

I guess I am still only using 1/4 strength, but even after lowering my tap to 7 first, my nutes only brought it down to just under 6. Good to know, though, that you mix straight into your tap water

Excuse to customs for hydroponic solution

Would it help to give off the impression that you ordered the nutes for your mom or aunt? Like, walk in with a written list of what you ordered and act like you know nothing about growing vegetables, but your mom got a longterm supply for cheap online. Might help divert the suspicion if you can...

Bubbleponics/DWC top fed seedling issue HELP

Yeah, i guess :dunce: I'm thinking of it as a 3 week set-back, and still a good lesson learned. I'll personally only keep rockwool for any urgent clipping needs haha

Bubbleponics/DWC top fed seedling issue HELP

Yes, i meant for if you end up transplanting to hydroton; i read and tried watering every 4 hours during light on, and once during light off. It's worked so far. But for rockwool, once a day has been good for me, and ive even skipped a day here and there.

Bubbleponics/DWC top fed seedling issue HELP

I'll try to remember posting a picture of my stunted seedling if i ever pull it up, but mine looked very close to yours two weeks ago when i pulled it up. Since then, it hasnt grown up at all, just more leaf growth on the first node Kinda glad I'm not the only one, but sucks dude. Ive been...

Bubbleponics/DWC top fed seedling issue HELP

I only used rockwool because i still have a bunch of cubes from when I was last growing (i obviously never got that good ha) Going to try rapid rooters next. Directly in hydroton makes me nervous whenever the pebbles move when i touch stuff, and they dont retain much moisture, if at all...

Bubbleponics/DWC top fed seedling issue HELP

Oof i feel your pain. I let my seedlings sit in the soggy rockwool for 3 more weeks before cutting my losses. They all basically stopped growing throughout the entire time. I heard that hydro was harder, but damn.. i never had problems this early in dirt :-x

Bubbleponics/DWC top fed seedling issue HELP

In my case, the rockwool never returned to its former state after 24/7 watering, even after drying it out, so it might be worth keeping an eye on yours as well. I've never had rockwool fall apart like this, it'd always remain in its firm cube shape. The surviving seedling from my rockwool mess...
