I ordered another air pump a few days ago because i was thinking the same thing. It's a 15 lpm pump, should be good even for a larger 27 gal tote i have. Also using hydroguard already, i figured i could use the help since i dont have a res chiller

Hi all, Noob here asking for thoughts on root health. I think I have a general sense of what to expect from healthy and unhealthy roots, but I'm not sure if the roots on my current plant in DWC is doing okay. No slime on roots, and water smells like it usually does when i mix fresh nutes...

I personally stopped top feeding after raising the water level so the bubbles could reach the bottom of the netpot. Since then, roots have touched the water and the growth has taken off. Didn't seem like hand watering was necessary

If it's helpful at all, for me, ph6.4 water at 600 ppm nute solution is lowered to 5.6 with 1ml of GH pH down. Im using a 5gal too (1st attempt at hydro, so all i got is my limited experience), and it seems like, at this low of a ppm, i need to adjust ph like 2 or 3 days in a row after changing...

Hm, thanks for pointing out that i should take the actual acid into consideration.. in your experience, is it something that i should adjust for? I was in a 20gal tote, but moved back to a 5gal for now. I think I'll adjust pH first, as it seems like there's also no harm in adjusting first...

Would it help to give off the impression that you ordered the nutes for your mom or aunt? Like, walk in with a written list of what you ordered and act like you know nothing about growing vegetables, but your mom got a longterm supply for cheap online. Might help divert the suspicion if you can...

Yes, i meant for if you end up transplanting to hydroton; i read and tried watering every 4 hours during light on, and once during light off. It's worked so far. But for rockwool, once a day has been good for me, and ive even skipped a day here and there.

Oof i feel your pain. I let my seedlings sit in the soggy rockwool for 3 more weeks before cutting my losses. They all basically stopped growing throughout the entire time. I heard that hydro was harder, but damn.. i never had problems this early in dirt :-x

In my case, the rockwool never returned to its former state after 24/7 watering, even after drying it out, so it might be worth keeping an eye on yours as well. I've never had rockwool fall apart like this, it'd always remain in its firm cube shape. The surviving seedling from my rockwool mess...
