    sources of silica

Basically what all of those bottles are is a form of silicic acid. Silicic acid is what the plants are able to take up. You can google Hydrated silica and that is what those bottles are, but they contain a counter ion (potassium) that keeps it from decomposing to water and silica. Hydrated...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

I used to to use protekt until I ran out. I read online that the soil is at least 30% silicon by weight. I am trying to mimic nature so I started adding tons of forms of silica. Even though it isn't readily soluble it aids the soil structure. The application of protekt does a lot more than...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

I would go with a 30 gallon minimum to get the best and most care free growth. There are some fabric pots that also feature a transplanting fabric pot. I would go with that. Honestly I would get as big of pots as you can and stuff your room full of soil. You have a lot more leeway that way. I...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

I use homemade worm poo, Gypsum, Neem meal, Crab meal, Kelp, diatomaceous earth, brown rice, and alfalfa. All of these can be added to a soil mix and planted immediately except for the alfalfa. I always put alfalfa on top of my soil and let the worms drag it around. That should cover every base...

    COVER CROP LOVERS UNITE---RIGHT HERE!

I did clover, yarrow and chamomile to start but noticed the clover caused me to constantly have mites. I pulled the clover and I haven't seen a single mite since. Mixing cover crops is the best idea because you get different benefits from each plant. Either in the in roots or in the air they all...

    Organic vs. Synthetic Nutrients

He was so smart until 3:00 in. Mixing and matching Organic and Conventional only leads down the path to failure. Additives are truly a gimmick. To have the best garden, choose a side (doesn't matter) and KISS. Most importantly KISS.

    COVER CROP LOVERS UNITE---RIGHT HERE!

I found clover can harbor mites if they do end up finding your room. But it was mostly me experiencing this, others have no problems at all. I used to really like the clover because I didn't have to apply N. Now I use roman chamomile and yarrow. Not only do they stay fairly low and generate a...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Never had that happen to me. I would say just drop it an hour every once and a while if your real worried. Maybe drop the time to 14 on 10 off for a day or two and then increase it to whatever you want. Might trick it?

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

I recently had a magnesium deficiency that I fixed without epsom salts and I thought I would share with the masses. I can't remember where I read it but I read that brown rice flower is super high in magnesium. I went out and bought some regular indian brown rice and they are fixed with a couple...

    Anyone growing their own nutes?

I have comfrey, dandelions, and nettles growing in my yard intentionally that I harvest. I ferment it to get the minerals free to the plant and water it in. At the end of the year I store the leftover fermented extract and use the rest of the nettles and dandelions - seeds and comfrey in a...

    Organic Growers: Breed or Cloning?

Did you try my method? Take a cutting, cut the biggest angle you can on the stem, And cut any nodes that will be in the cup in water. After that do not cut the clone anymore, not the fan leaves, Nothing! After 12 hours put some aloe on it and back in the cup or into some new soil. I promise you...

    Gro-Kashi & Gage Green Probiotics

I feel like the lactic acid is doing the real work. They are intense fermenting microbes that work fast. All the other microbes are indegenous microbes he added while probably following the process of the unconventional farmer. You could get a lot of that from a nearby hiking trail if you went...
