SCROG: many plants vs few plants - pros/cons

ok so jam packing more than 2-3 plants in a 3x3 (seems to be 3-4.5sqft per plant) will end up just being a fake scrog and more like a sog, and the benefit of such is that it gains the SOG's benefits of fast veg times?

Did you notice any result differences trying 3000k or 5000k or mixed?

I know this question is asked a lot but i dont recall anyone posting their results of a (hopefully) controlled test between the two, or with staggered as well. I also hear a lot of people saying it matters much less than the cost/headache is worth, and some saying it totally affects bud shape...

DIY Light Strips with Driver - how do I get a timer on this?

I have HLG drivers with samsung light strips. I can simply connect the two with wires and plug it into the wall but that means its on 24/7 unless i pull the plug. How do I get it more controlled, say on a timer and on a switch that is programmable easily, like automatic 12/12 or 18/6 without me...

SCROG: many plants vs few plants - pros/cons

If you can scrog a plant pretty wide, is there ever any advantage of haivng more plants, with each not as wide, in 1 same area? more plants = more work = more cost, less plants = less work = less cost

How much space should a SCROGged plant be given?

Is there a typical size range for 1 plants canopy? like typically does a scrog grow allow a plant to occupy 1x1 sqft or 3x3 sqft? or can we really pack in a 2x2 sqft space with like 8 plants?

wow thats terrible! that brand supposedly is good too :( just started coming off an edge and lost stickyness?

LED Strips - thermal tape onto aluminum U channels - tape width? & wire gauge

i must be unaware of the danger, what is the issue of constant current with 300v?

Possibly screwed up my design planning for led strips voltage?

great to hear! the 120v vs 343v thing came up @ home depot when i didnt explain my project clearly enough to the person helping me find 600v wiring probably, didnt realize DC and AC was the key difference. yeah originally was just going to go with hlg lights but team needed to save money, and...

Possibly screwed up my design planning for led strips voltage?

agreed, DIY doesnt even save that much money in the end >:( getting an electrician to double check breakers and stuff next week. do you have any ideas regarding the 120v wall thing? was hoping the drivers could magically pump out 480w with 343V :(

Possibly screwed up my design planning for led strips voltage?

Was just talking to someone from home depot and was told that in the United States, if I plug anything into the wall outlets, max I can get is 120v. Originally I wanted to do 6 to 7 Samsung led strips rated at 46v each in series, so total of 300-340v My driver could handle it, hlg 480h 1400a...

    Bridgelux EB Gen 2 Thermals

can you post a picture of the rest of your set up / angles / where you put the driver in relation to the plants (or somewhere)? doing a very similar build. that is in series right?

    Bridgelux EB Gen 2 Thermals

do you actually run them at 1400mA though? i thought drivers just only provide the max current needed (i presume is 1.12A for yoursrips)

    Bridgelux EB Gen 2 Thermals

not sure where you are getting 5$ prices for 18ft u channels (perhaps lower width) but for me, 2 inch width u channels with 8ft length was 20-25$!!!!! multiply that by 20 and suddenly im pretty sad. came into DIY to save money, slowly realizing the $ save is dwindling with each new expense :P...

LED Strips - thermal tape onto aluminum U channels - tape width? & wire gauge

awesome! to save mental stress, might go with a single 25mm or 30mm down the middle (need to measure again) after your thermal testing evidence after i measure the width of the paired diodes and give 5mm clearance per side. surprised to see that you had high ~95% effectiveness on just 10mm on...

    Bridgelux EB Gen 2 Thermals

just found this thread based off your recommendation in my thread, wow! very impressed many seem to recommend 1050mA drivers, is there a reason for this? All of the strips I consider seem to be 1.12A. Am I in the minority in terms of strip selection, and in actuality, most strips are under...

LED Strips - thermal tape onto aluminum U channels - tape width? & wire gauge

thanks noodle! yes it is the samsung F series strips, you got your info down to a high level :) Do the samsung strips diodes really go more to the edge? they seem pretty centered to me (LINK samsung f series strip kinda looks like this) i have shaky hands so i hope my OCD doesnt go crazy with...

LED Strips - thermal tape onto aluminum U channels - tape width? & wire gauge

thanks, the parallel terminology was very confusing! i guess not, it was just a recommendation i read online (to use solid). by tin, i presume you mean to soldering them together so they dont fray? Sure, if its simpler/better/more money saved Is there a downside to solid core? (aside from...

LED Strips - thermal tape onto aluminum U channels - tape width? & wire gauge

im bad at physics :( barely caught it when i realized wires had voltage ratings. found something 600v but its "parallel" does that mean its for parallel connetions only...

LED Strips - thermal tape onto aluminum U channels - tape width? & wire gauge

Hmm not sure, was just what was recommended when I planned it out. I have 14 of those, should have a few left over for this specific room just in case

LED Strips - thermal tape onto aluminum U channels - tape width? & wire gauge

I have led strips that are ~39mm wide and i see 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, 10mm width thermal tape for sale online. should the tape be covering ALL of the width of the strips? does overlap or hang-off matter? (2 20mm tape will have 1mm of overlap, or hang off edge) lastly, these strips have screw holes...
