Schultz is generally viewed in the states as a good soil for herb growing. Personally I feel that mixing your own saves money and is just as good if not better than any store bought soils.

Then you have Miracle Grow with time release fertilizers. In my personal experience and from other users experiences on this site, it'd probably a good bet to stay away from that soil.

I swear by CFL and against HPS. I've never used HID or MH lamps tho. You can get just as good if not better bud from using CFL's in the correct amount as you can from an HPS. I agree with Skunkushhybrid about the amount of light you give your plants shows in the amount of bud production. But...

Depending on the size of your area, I would either buy several large watt cfl's (maybe 125w) or several sets of shop light floros. Hell use both if you have the room. No such thing as too much light.

Topping a plant is cutting off it's main growth shoot, replacing it with two. You can do this many times over as well. Most people top in order to keep their plants short and bushy.
