Unless you have an auto flowering strain, the plants will show their sex only when they go into the 12/12 light cycle. Auto flowering plants will show their sex after a certain amount of time regardless of what the light cycle is.

Not really sure about this, but I think your lights should be 18/6 or 24/0 until the plant shows signs of flowering, and then you should change it to 12/12. I'm really not sure about this, so anyone can feel free to correct me.

Yeah, you might be over-watering a bit... Water only when the pot feels light when you lift it, if there's too much water the roots can't develop properly.
