Regarding the current reflector situation, I'm well aware. Bare in mind the seeds haven't even penetrated the soil yet so in all actuality all lighting is a waste until my seedlings grow their cotyledons. I've actually already devised a solution to both the side reflectors as well as the ceiling...
The bulbs cost me $2.00 each. 40 bubls = $80.00. Please show me where I can get a 400 watt HID bulb + fixture + hanging materials + proper ventilation materials + a ballast for $80.00 out the door. Not to mention that my bulbs will be putting out almost no heat and the fact that my plants are...
Alright well I visited the store and came back with 12 more 26 watt 6500k CFLs and some other goodies. This brings the current total of lights in the room to 20 ( 2 x 40w Soft White CFL, 6 x 26w Soft White CFL, 12 x 26w Daylight CFL.)
The current light array is putting out 34,600 lumens...
I don't know very much about electricity at all apart from the fact that most of my appliances won't work in European outlets :hump:. The y sockets have a little embossed stamp on them that say (Max 225v.) I simply interpreted that as not being able to support more than 225v worth of lights. I...
Several members have kept journals using maybe 2 x 42w CFLs per plant with no reflectors and have had good yields. Regardless of how long you've been doing this, nobody can claim to know everything there is to know about the topic. While it's generally accepted that one can never have enough...
Yes the will screw in to normal light sockets. A bulb like that will probably maintain a regular surface temperature of 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit which isn't bad by any means. It's 120 volts and most of the Y sockets we generally use are rated to handle 225 volts max. I wouldn't plug more than...
It's been exactly 48 hours since the germinated seeds were planted. Sadly none have broken through the soil yet but that's probably because they're busy becoming legends in their pots.
HID lights aren't my specialty but I would be wary of purchasing lights that have exposed wires. No telling what kind of abuse they may have suffered. No sense in burning the house down to try to save a buck.
Warm and Soft are simply la men's terms for the true color spectrum of the bulb. So long as the kelvin rating on your bulbs is the one you're looking for, you're good to go. Your plants aren't going to go on grow strike because of a confusion in nomenclature,
Do you live with your parents or do they just visit frequently? If your parents aren't cool with you growing in their house I wouldn't do it. Not only are the chances of them noticing the power bill / smell / lights always being on / your preoccupation with horticulture pretty high, it isn't...
For 50 bucks that seems like quite a deal. Just make sure they're working and see if you can get an estimate as to how many hours he's run them. So long as the mileage on them isn't too high I'd say you can't go wrong.
Complete dependent on the size, strain, and stage of the grow. For something small that isn't too skunky, I imagine that will probably suffice. For my 4 plant bag seed grow I don't think I'm going to need any odor deterrent apart from the occasional febreeze. Just make sure you're not spray the...
I read that our Sun puts out around 10k lumens / sq ft. The closest to that you can get the better I'd imagine. You can use Grow Room Tools to calculate your lumens per sq ft.
