I concur, the way you have the t5 bulbs standing up seem as though they'll provide excellent and even side lighting for foliage that normally wouldn't be penetrated by the overhead lamps.
Yeah, originally the temp was 95, I'm in the process of bringing the temps down but because it's a full blown room , it's taking some time. It's funny because it's like 15 degrees outside and I have my air conditioning on and it's still going down really really slowly....
*update* to try to...
Alright well before I give you guys an update I just want to share something VERY helpful. Walmart has absolutely everything you need for CFL soil growing. I absolutely mean this. On top of that, it has the best prices for nearly 90% of the materials/supplies. I just saw a 5 foot shop light dual...
I wish I knew. To be honest they're bagseeds and judging by the stash they came from, nothing special. I'll likely be ordering some TOP44 in the near future but I'd been saving up a bunch of bagseeds because my friend grinds them up and puts them in his kid's food for nutritional reasons. I...
Oh so only an hour or so after setting up the little mini-domes, the two surviving seedlings are showing great promise. They both have increased their greenness and both managed to split their cotyledons so these two remain my most successful seedlings to date.
Alright well I guess it's time for an update. My first batch of planted seeds never broke the soil line after a week so I scrapped them, tilled up the soil, and planted a new batch of seeds that I had been germinating. This batch proved to be more promising, with 4 seeds actually penetrating the...
To fend off some of the reflector negativity I set to work to craft a few quick and effective reflectors. While it's probably only a step up from the soda can reflectors, I think it'll get the job done until I install the horizontal reflector.
Unfortunately I ran out of Mylar so I could only...
So long as you're buying it from HTGsupply, you should be in good shape. I've heard nothing but good stuff about them so I think it's a safe and cost-effective alternative.
He's talking 3600 lumens per sq ft. Because his area is 10 sq feet it's reasonable to assume that he's really pumping out closer to 20k or 30k total lumens.
You need to be careful about rapid temperature changes with glass. HID's can get very hot and if all of a sudden you're blowing cold air onto them you're putting the bulbs under a lot of stress which could potentially end in it shattering. If you're going to do this, start venting the cool air...
Also the reason why the space is so big is because in a few weeks it's going to change from being my only grow space into the budding room for a SOG setup with about 9-12 plants at a time. So while it kind of dwarfs the four plants it's got in there now, it's going to seem all too small all too...
