Alright so I'm just kind of testing the waters here to see if anybody has any good stories of things they've done with / to their gardens while under the influence. I can't help but think that there are at least a few bomb tales out there.
a 6 pack of 26w GE CFLs cost about $13.00. Each bulb puts out 1700 lumens. My final rig will consist off 36 of these bulbs and 4 40 watt CFL's (2600 lumens each at $8.00 a piece) for a total of 40 bulbs and 71,600 lumens. Not bad for 4 plants hehe. The main point is that just about every single...
My advice would be to use many lower wattage cfl's rather than a few high wattage cfl's. It'll probably be cheaper and your plants will be covered from more angles with less effort.
The guy at Lowe's should probably stick to operating forklifts and selling ceiling fans. Bulbs don't give out watts, they draw watts from the outlet, watts being a measure of electricity. The reason they get confused about it is because CFL's are marketed almost always as a such and such true...
This is correct. My setup will eventually be 4 x 40w cfls and 36x 26 watt bulbs. I won't be able to walk into my room without wearing sun glasses.
By the way, I see you updated your avatar milf, NICE.
I'm using it, $20 bucks a bag , filled 4 , 4 gallon planters up and still have enough left over for one more. Good stuff, looks cool and smells nice, plus it's got EARTWORM CASTINGS
Alright, I finally had enough seeds germinate to plant them so I threw my bag seeds into their 4 gallon pots under a bout 1/4 - 1/2 inch of soil, gave them a good watering with some gallons of distilled water I purchased at the local grocery and then set to work using up the rest of my Mylar...
Damn you. Why couldn't you have posted this last night? I had an old case fan and an extra power cable that would normally go to a power supply unit. I cut through the insulation and hotwired the fan to the power cable. When I plugged it in and turned on the power strip the conductors in the...
What is the lumen output of each bulb? I'm guessing somewhere between 3000-4000 ? If so it could probably support maybe 4 plants for the first week or so of vegg if properly reflected.
I'm going to grow a few plants and start them off in 4 gallon planters. I only plan on vegging for a short period of time, 4 - 6 weeks and I don't want them any taller than 3 ft before I flower. Will the 4 gallon planters be suitable for the entire life of my plants?
Bright Effects is actually a brand owned by Lowe's. Only 3900 lumens? The Bright Effects 40 watt cfl's put out 2700 lumens. How much did the 300w cfl cost you? Hopefully not a lot because even the 40 watt 2700 lumen CFLs that cost $8.00 each are a rip off for lumens per dollar.
At Lowe's there's a brand called "Bright Dreams" which is actually just Lowe's brand with a different name that are 40 watt CFLs for $8.00 and they're 2600 lumens.

Alright ladies and gents, I'm Krygor and this is my absolute first attempt at growing anything in my entire life. Up until a few days ago I never seriously considered starting my own little gardening endeavor, however in my area, bud is very expensive and low quality...
If you could take a picture it would help a great deal. The ballast on one of my 40w spiral CFL's actually popped off exposing what looked like a circuit board. I was able to just pop it back on and it snapped back together and we were good to go. If the bulb is farther out of the ballast than...
