Medical Scrog: My first Real Grow

.......more roots if you use a mat? hey I could use one with my buckets right? i don't think i would need to though. not exactly sure how big my buckets are but the big 65lb of grow rocks only fills 4, i have them filled to the top. so i got a lot of roots and the top feed...feeds them well...

Medical Scrog: My first Real Grow

Ya I'm opting out because of the done properly part. If you were doing a large scale sea of green I can see flood and drain being a good idea, but are there any other advantages to it and how hard is it to keep up with the algae? thanks

Medical Scrog: My first Real Grow

Hey hulk, thanks for stoppin by and for the comp. I don't really care for flood and drain. I have a couple friends who do it, and it looks like a green algae covered mess. Plus I like the idea of fresh nutes constantly flowing through the root zone when the pumps are on. If I ever grow any other...

    Hydro vs. Soil for newbie

What's up dr. green. Glad to see support for hydro coming out in force. However, as to your inquiry, the reason soil buds generally taste better is because they have a higher amount of terpenes. Terpenes and terpenoids are the primary constituents of essential oils. I know that doesn't...

    Hydro vs. Soil for newbie

With scrog your plant doesn't grow vertically, it grows horizontally under the screen. The only advantage to having less plants and more veg is if your are legal and want to maximize the production per plant. Take a look at my grow.

    Hydro vs. Soil for newbie

You can get a pound off of one plant scrogging if you want to veg for 2-3 months. Actually, I only vegged mine for 15 days, so I bet that 2 plants vegged for a month could yield a pound under a 1k.

    Hydro vs. Soil for newbie

ehhhhh.....ya they are more sensitive, but also quicker to fix and plants only die in a "short short" time if you are lazy. Just follow the suggested feed cycle by your nutrient line and if you are a beginner then don't start with a strain that is picky with nutes if ya can help it. The only...

    Hydro vs. Soil for newbie

If you want to stagger it out like that you kinda have to do soil. Otherwise you will need a separate res. for the plants that are in different stages. Since you only have one flower light, soil will allow you to raise the shorter plants to meet the canopy, something you usually can't do with...

    Hydro vs. Soil for newbie

Hydo is simple, it just requires checking it a little more often which takes a couple minutes. If you're just a hobbyist then go with dirt I guess, but if you're serious about growing some pot you might as well start learning hydro. You may go through 5 soil grows with no or few deficiencies to...

    Hydro vs. Soil for newbie

Just because you had some buds at the end doesn't mean they couldn't have been bigger. Some people will have ph issues and that's one of the quickest ways to get deficiencies through lock.

    Hydro vs. Soil for newbie

How's it goin' hudson. I don't think that learning the growth characteristics of a plant grown in dirt is going to be extremely helpful in knowing how it will grow in hydro. Hydro can make the plant grow differently because of how fast it is and even make the shape of the leaves and buds...

    Hydro vs. Soil for newbie

I don't get why everyone acts like hydroponics is a step below rocket science or why it's not a good idea for beginners. If you start in soil and go to hydro you still have to learn a completely different methodology. As long as you pay attention to hydro it's easy and doesn't take a lot of...

Medical Scrog: My first Real Grow

.....as soon as i harvest these cheese plants, which is 2 thirds of the screen, I'm going to put both 1000's over the SB and VK. 2k over a 4'x2.75' area sounds kinda crazy to me, but my temps are right on, even a little on the low side, and co2 is good. Overkill....definitlely....I like it.

Medical Scrog: My first Real Grow

I vegged for 15 days, at which point they were around 9"-12" I think. I topped only the main stem at 6" and put the screen at 13". The reason I took a few inches off when I topped the plants is because I was trying to make all the plants as symmetrical as possible and some were a little bigger...
