    2 cfl's

I'd just stick with one for plants that small. Doubling the light doesn't magically double growth. And if you increase the 'local' heat too much... it's actually going to hurt- not help.

    i think its bullshit

Smoking kills cells. Lung cells, brain cells, and/or plant cells. You name it, it kills them.

To UVB or not to UVB??

Conventional fluorescents already emit UVB. It's less than 5% of the photon flux, but it's there. Also MH/MV emit plenty of UVB. HPS doesn't(less than 0.1%). UVB evokes increased resin production. Which means better smoke. Not really an issue during veg. The start of 12/12 would be good.

25$ 300watt output cfl at home depot?

    That's 67.5k. Oregon made a typo.

    Ballast Question +rep

That's an awful idea. 70w HPS bulbs aren't really efficient(max of 90 lm/W). Fluoros can beat that, and have far superior lumen maintenance.

whats the most common way of gettin caught

Posting grow journals on public websites. Wait no.... going up to a cop and asking him if he has a light.

    flower with cfls

The wattage of the CFL bulb doesn't really matter, they're all roughly the same peak intensity. Total wattage/'lumens'(not really "lumens" but PPF aka photosynthetic photon flux) is what matters. You'll want 50-100 actual watts per cubic foot of foliage for flowering, and as little as 13W for...

Can I chop off over a foot from the top?

I wouldn't top before flower, you'll probably end up with two small colas.

    Why?!

I see, so the fried fellow, baked baby, and the ass hat speak for RIU's support. Good to know.

Plasma is the Future of growing!

The problem is it peaks at 500-600 nm... basically sea-green to yellow. See attachment. The green grid and graph is a basic photosynthetic spectral response. The plasma bulb hits neither of the peaks with its peak... and peaks in the valley of the plant curve. Halogens can do a very similar...

Wow. That proved itself rather quickly. Great examples of two people who post way off topic.

    Why?!

So I've made something like 16 threads now. 5 have been closed due to no more than a few specific unruly posters. Why are my threads being closed? Shouldn't their posts be removed/modified so the thread(s) can continue? You moderators don't make any damn sense. :cuss: Why do you, the...

    Science Over Faith?

It was like, 14 billion years ago(rounded), who really cares? It's ancient history. Pretty much all religions promote the notion of life after death. Because idiots will believe they'll be rewarded for something(faith, for instance) after they're dead. Then the notion of hell came along, and...

Stoney thinking. Do we REALLY need 12/12?

The photoreceptor(pigment) is called phytochrome. http://plantphys.info/plant_physiology/phytochrome.shtml It does far more than simply regulate flowering. 10-12 hours are required daily for the plant to produce the hormones for flowering(CONTINUOUS!), phytochrome instructs the plant to...

Jesus Crucified For Blasphemy Or Treason?

People believe in the Bible??? Wow. You realize it's a work of fiction, right? Your post was tl;dr... why am I posting here?

Plasma is the Future of growing!

These bulbs are extremely hot(they can melt themselves!), and produce tons of unusable light, just like the sun(roughly only 25% plant-usable/PUR/PAR). They were created back in the early 90's and were deemed a commercial failure.. still in the 90'S. LEDs are clearly the future of lighting...

    help with lights please

Hmmm, says 60 watts.... I can only assume that means incandescent equivalent. Otherwise unlabeled.. probably warm white. Which really means more like 13 actual watts, and a flower-friendly light spectrum.
